I don't follow gaming news much, so I didn't even know it was a rumor.

Neither do i , i just get news from other people and news are full of shit most of the time

I can't think of another video game that shows the city of New York this much love. Listen to me here. PE is a Squaresoft RPG that takes you to the Central Park Zoo to shoot corrupted gorillas with pyrokenesis and firearms. The map of Manhattan is also charming as a PS1 overworld can get.

The only thing the game got wrong is that there are no gun shops in New York City. There are gun stores practically everywhere else in America (you can buy guns and ammo easily at your local Wal-Mart) but firearms are especially hard to purchase and legally posses in NYC.

Surprisingly so. The mandatory evacuation scene gave me goosebumps. Very 9-11 vibes for a game made pre 9-11.

Never really found Parasite Eve all that scary or all that good
for that matter. Back then I was too busy playing Metal Gear Solid, Xenogears,
RE 2, or Half-Life. Lots and Lots of Half-Life. I didn't have time for
some mitochondrial nonsense.

For me, it’s the perfect blend of survival horror and RPG. Claustrophobic atmosphere, fun bosses to fight, a solid weapon and armor system, and a well-rounded story that sits between science and fantasy, made even better if you’ve read the book (with a bit of headcanon to connect the two). New Game+ has a huge grind, but it’s totally worth it. 9/10 for me.”

IIRC they took a trip to New York and took a bunch of reference pictures, they were pretty serious about the location. The motel in Parasite Eve 2 feels like a believable desert motel to me too.

I think it would almost be a better solution. Most emulators can now display games as well as the original and even better.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think an RE4-style action-RPG remake of Parasite Eve would go hard.
