I was searching for a game to play in my steam library and I found EVE online, i dont even remember adding it to my library lmao.
Im thinking of playing it, whats your opinion on this game? ::thinking

I played years ago, was a member of a group that mined in worm holes. It's a great experience but you pretty much have to devote most of your life to it. The game has it's own real world currency, and it's taken pretty serious by anyone trying to make a profit. It can be great, but soul sucking and I have had more than a few friends go overboard with real life purchases just to get ahead in the game.

So would not recommend for a casual experience.

I would recommend Freelancer.

Its abandonware. And its basically the single player version of Eve, made before it, and with a story.

It also happens to be one of my all time favorite games.

It is my understanding that the people that never finish making Star Citizen made Freelancer.

One of the earlier space sim games. Remember seeing some people goofing off on it during my teens, which was 06-08. It's been updated and supported for decades now. Still pretty looking. Never played it myself, but I've been told that mining is a very poor way to play the game and that piracy and high risk trading is the funnest elements next to the guild shenanigans.

Thank you! i will check this game out

All i remember from my time in EVE was this.

What you said is basically what I always believed about this game, as much as I always find it amazing from the outside.

As a semi-retired and eventual FFXI player (some demanding MMORPG game, which is not a game especially known for respecting the player's time, especially the older parts from the early 2000s), I always believed EVE had to be a painfully, incredibly difficult experience to sustain in your lifetime.

People who play EVE seriously, seem (I repeat, from the outside) to dedicate their WHOLE lives to it.

I'm not saying new dedicated players can't enter successfully in EVE, but EVE would only seem interesting to me if I was living alone, in a country like Iceland (from where its creators are), and for half of the year the sun didn't rise at all and the weather being bloody cold outside my home. Then, FOR SURE I will seriously try to play it. At least during some months a year (to evade me, just to not turn crazy).

I remember same years ago trying to play some free trial of EVE, and saying "Nope, that's not for me": Very complex to manage, and EXTREMELY demanding. It's basically a "full life" game. Too much to be considered just "a game".

I've never heard of that game, but I'm interested in playing it.
Remember all the HYPE Starfield got like 2 years ago, when MS sold that game as a "universe to explore all your life", when it only was a mediocre RPG with some mediocre FPS action... but for some reason, included many huge and empty places, called "planets"?
Well, it turns out PC already had a massive universe to explore since 20 years ago, and even better, as an MMO game.

Although, I'm pretty sure many disappointed Starfield players what they really expected AND WANTED was something like "No Man's Sky", which, by then, was already a fantastic game experience for one player. EVE is something much much much more serious and difficult to manage than "No Man's Sky", and a lot less casual.

As some one that played this game on and off sense 2007 on clocked nearly 10k hour on steam alone. "When I started out there was no eve on steam it came 2008 but I did not switch to steam until 2012"

All I can say is eve is a great sandbox game for people that love sci-fi. Honestly one of the best sci-fi games I ever play with wast option of what you wanna do.

But my fair warning is EVE is not for people faint of heart.
The learning curve is STEEP but with a very helpful community.
You need Patience of a GOD
PVP is not optional it´s mandatory and will be force down your throat regardless if you like it or not.
You will have to deal with grown ass MEN "some women" that loves drama more than anything. So have a cup of tears or a cup to collect tears at the ready.

There is no safe space even if CCP and player like to tell you that Null sec and low sec is where pvp happens high sec has shit load of ganking and the so called NPC police is utterly pointless becuse if they wanna kill you till will make you lose millions of isk they will NPC police be damned.
And then punishment for ganking well there is non more than a little hit at your secusity status which you can get back up easy. And the ships they will gank you in will cost gankers 5-10mill while you will lose 100s of mill even 2+ bill worth of isk while they lose jack shit.

Scaming is allowed as long as it´s for in game money. Back stabbing is mandetory.

If you feeling is easly hurt stay away becuse the smack talk in eve can be so hard the word toxic would be a joke to describe it.

Thank you! I love this explanation lmao::dkapproves
One other cool thing about EVE is they've been trying to get an FPS sister franchise running along with it for years.

Yeah, well, they dedicate their full life to this game... so, you can expect that.

That seems a Hell of an ecosystem.
I thought the high security space was much more safer than you explain.

Fighting for their NO-life!

Who the hell plays that? Because I'm pretty sure EVE players don't have time.

And the fun part is they tried and failed about 3 times. We first had DUST 514 then Project Legion canned then Project Nova.
Then also lets not forget about the failed Eve: Valkyrie

As I eve player for 18 years all I ask is who the FUCK is the FPS games fore ?? Not EVE players, Not CoD players and not Battlefield players and every one else just plays fortnight or PUBG.

Yeah no Null sec is more safe today than high sec. Ganking has become rampant as hell. There is a corp called L.E.G.I.O.N that uses the new Cenotaph Ship to gank Freighters because CCP made that ship broken as hell. Then we have CODE + other named corporations that gank mining players in high sec.

I was ganked my self just 3 days ago in high sec mining some Omber because Im trying to build some ships with out spending isk.

So yeah high sec us pointless and honestly I start to wonder why not make ALL of space null ??

LOL. So, As I suspect, EVE people are not interested on that idea. And yeah, CoD or Battlefield player will not change their games for a random FPS from a very different franchise. I doubt CCP could make an FPS THAT good to attract those players.

That's... very BAD.
I understand CCP wants the game to be very "free" (free meaning "liberty") experience for the game community... but man, if you do not protect some zones as they supposedly have to be, you will destroy your game future: new players will desist if they are destroyed even in hi-sec zones.

Well there is a reason EVE never hit 100k concurent players. Yes EVE has around 20-32K players online any given time of the day. But I never ever the the player count go above 50k . Well the game hit 100k once but that was during some big update in the past 2010-11 I think but does 100k was just mostly every one logging in their alt.

EVE will for ever be a niche game same with Mortal 1 and 2 online. Because very few people are sadistic enough to enjoy dying and losing everything they worked hours for in just a matter of seconds.
