Opinions on the new Halo remake...

To me the whole thing looks like 343i/"Halo Studios" grasping at straws. Everything thing about the reveal to me just feels... desperate. It looks cheap; even for a prebuild. The Unreal 5 Vaseline over any attempt at keeping the actual feel of Halo: CE being re-imagined for a modern audience. Not to mention the ABHORRENT track record of 343 making anything functional.

It's also just like the 4th time they've decided to rerelease an upgraded version of the game. Between the PC version that added mod support and the flamethrower, the 360 remaster, and then the update to that in MCC. Add on to that the fact that 343 managed to raze all the potential and damn near Halo 3 levels of hype Halo Infinite had to that ground in record time, and it really feels like they're grasping at straws and have no idea what to do at this point.

Halo ended with Reach.

Halo Wars was the true spiritual successor and it carried the torch well, until 343 studios decided to steal the Banished for Halo: Infinite and ruined any chances of Halo Wars 3 existing.

We already have the Master Chief collection, a UE5 Remake that butchers the art style has no place within what remains of the Halo Nation.
The fact they only remastered the first game and not the original trilogy is a kick in the teeth for any new players.... Who don't exist. Halo's been on PC for 6+ years now.
Any old laptop can run it, even the old Microsoft Surface tablets could run MCC everyone who wanted to play it has played it.

Halo is dead, I most sincere wish is for 343 to stop wearing its corpse as a skinsuit and let it rest.

I would be fine taking CE a fourth time... if it kept Halo: CE. To me it feels like they're not even trying to make it "CE but new!" it feels like they're trying to re-write CE for their vision that hardly anyone is impressed with

The remake is coming to PS5. Xbox is truly dead now. This is Microsoft's SA2 on GameCube moment, except SA2 was actually good.

I heavily agree here. Though I think there are plenty of people who want to get into Halo, but the only recent game worth buying is the MCC.

I feel like even Infinite's free multiplayer is just an ad for not playing Halo. People hear how "it's a return to form" and expect it to be in the same tier as 3. Then see the prices, lack of content, bugs, and the horrible updates and just don't bother shelling out the $40 for the games people actually like.

I don't like when the first title of duologies/trilogies gets the port/remake treatment and the other are left behind like if they didn't exist, release the full package or don't release anything cowards, what even happened to collections that included all major titles of a franchise for 60 bucks?

Even if I don't play much halo it does hurt to see how badly it has been treated.

I'm worried that they might take the opportunity to ruin the original lore. They could easily add terminals to the game, and insist that the Forerunners are actually weird aliens.

Reach was the last time I cared about the series, hasn't been the same since then

Not a fan of the direction, adds nothing of value outside of a few modern FPS tweaks such as sprinting etc, art is worse, muted, uninspired.
No real creative liberties taken here, just run it through a UE5 machine.
Sure the graphics are artificially "nice" & there will be 3 extra new missions, but outside of this, the overall package is super pointless in my eyes. Just like anniversary edition, when this drops, i'd probably still highly recommend the OG as it is timeless.
MCC on other outstanding platforms would have been way better.

And where the stabs at creative liberties are taken, it's just cannibalizing design elements from later Halo titles, resulting in this weird anachronistic style
