One handheld for life, what are you choosing?

Dang. Has to be either my DSi XL or my N3DSXL, however since I can play DS games AND my Yo-Kai Watch games on the N3DSXL, I guess that wins.

That being said, I am taking my DSi XL as my vacation console this year, since the N3DSXL has ended up in the notorious "Too Expensive for Me to Replace Club" (where it hangs with my Steam Deck). No Yo-Kai but playing a lot of Game Center CX games and maybe even try out a few hacks (like Mario Kart DS Deluxe).

It would be the PSP, but if I was able to play everything on the system that it can run, then I'd choose the PS Vita.

In reality, I have both.

My PS Vita was primarily for Persona/Project Diva. 3DS was for Etrian Odyssey and Shin Megami Tensei.

But if we're ruling out backwards compatibility, then probably DS. It still has EO and Megaten, plus: Castlevania, Ace Attorney, Professor Layton, Zelda, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan, Picross...

Among my "official" handhelds, I've probably spent the most time with the DS library and bought the most physical games for it.

The brick game, 9999+ games in one? who needs a PSP or DS when you have Snake and Space Invadersn't?

Jokes aside, i would go for the PSP, even with the "No other systems" rule, of all the portables, i feel its library is the most robust, i wanted to say DS too, but if it's meant to be for life, i would pull more mileage from the smol PS2

Gameboy Color for me. Too many great games that just aren't under peoples' radars. Pokemon, Dragon Warriors 3, Daikatana, Link's Awakening DX, Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons, Super Mario Land 2, Warioland 3, Mario Tennis, Metal Gear Solid, Kirby, Contra, etc etc and so forth
