Kingdom Hearts II, Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3/Narutimate Hero 3 and me & my katamari, all of them later receveing worldwide translations in diferent times yeah, but all of them released on the same day and also being some of the greatest games of that generation.
Kingdom Hearts II with it's touching story, great (albeight short) soundtrack, fluid and spectacular looking if a bit mashy gameplay, graphics and menus that look better than a lot of stuff produced on the ps3-onwards, and the best ending in gaming history, making an ending so touching and conclusive to the series it makes it sad that it was planned to be just the second game and the series later was just kept alive through handheld games of varying quality, that and the level design was quite bland, but at least the worlds lead well to combat compared to the first game (dear lord hollow bastion...) easily the best one in the series, and also the only one not to be solely dubbed in english and japanese, truly one of the best ps2 titles of all time.
Ultimate Ninja 3 was and still is to this day the best game based on the classic naruto storyline, it had the best and most fun map exploration out of all the 3d naruto games, the roster was excellent if unbalanced, the recap story even if shorter than ultimate ninja 2 was a lot of fun and a good time to replay if you want to re-live some of the most memorable naruto fights (even if ultimate ninja 4 has stuff like the fights with kankuro and temari against the sound 4 it removed the battles against gigant characters and it was a pain to unlock, so it wasn't a whole lot better) had a great soundtrack, tons of fun content and minigames, and all around was a great package, demonstrating that cyberconnect2 could make a party fighter even better than smash (and i say it as someone who really enjoys that series) they don't make them like this anymore...if only the sound mixing was better.
And finally we have me & my katamari, an excellent and funny title that made a series with a specific control scheme work well on a device with less button (something ape escape couldn't do) tons of content and replay value, good music and marvelous visuals, such a shame the ps vita incarnation wasn't as good, but thankfully the series is still alive to this day, and honestly, one of the few game series that could continue forever.
Awesome games 20 years ago, now and forever.
Merry christmas everybody!!!
