OláHello, my name is lod, for those who don't know me, I'm a calm person who asks me a lot of philosophical questions like the one in the title. I'm a young person, but I'm going to watch cartoons.Old because of my father who introduced me to everything when I was a child, I'm going to show you a drawing that I like, it's the same thing as the image

You're pretty well known on the forum, Lod. No worries about that

Now that aside, it really is a generational thing....

If you grew up with say, the Generation 1 Transformers, you're going to think they are better than the new ones. Same with the new ones. A kid who grew up only seeing, say, Transformers from the 2000s until now is going to think the 1980s Transformers are just old and boring.

We humans really do work like that. That's not to say someone can't like both. Heck I like the original Thundercats more than the 2010s version that was very anime looking, and not a bad show overall.

There really are no "Win's" when it comes to new versus old... each does and will always have a fanbase. And that's perfectly fine. Heck, I even like some of the old sixties cartoons.

Don't question yourself for having the correct opinion. ::bigboss

Não se questione por ter a opinião correta.::chefe
I also agree soldier, I was raised on the basis of the classics because of my country that always drew old animators even if it was from 1900 and guarana with cork

Você é bem conhecido no fórum, Lod.

EUI used to introduce myself to people who don't know me, but I found your question very valid and I respect your opinion. I was raised on old cartoons. I love Tom and Jerry and others. Classic cartoons that Tom and Jerry marked my childhood, that cat and mouse fight is very good

I would still say its more about expectations and the compromises that we take to determine what actually is better of the cartoon eras and of the cartoons we have at our hands .

The artstyle and character-designs back then were more cooler , badass , edgier , stylisticly bold and even the attitude of the old cartoons had more spice and bite behind it . But it wasnt perfect . Bad animations and rather weak action was mostly the problem with the shows . The stories were either very deep that questions alot in very existential levels and other deep topics in that regard or shallow at best because of the style-over-substance approach that can be great on its own but never really go further with its potential to go into huge classic territory .

New cartoons provide the great animation and have great stories on their own with mostly great action behind it but more and more over the time it didnt had that bite and style of the older cartoons in its design and approach .
The cal-arts style dominated alot later on which can be overstay its welcome way too much and even the action degraded into more or less too tame territories .

Best example would be the iterations of the hulk cartoon shows from the 80s , 90s and 2000s.

80s Hulk-cartoon was somehow dry but its on point what Hulk was about in its essentials : Green angry , uncontrollable , strong monster who defeats his opponents with raw strength . The tragedy of bruce banner on himself wasnt the mainpoint and only shows slightly here and there to be faithful to the comics but not in its full extent . Its rather pulpy but has its merits .

90s Hulk-cartoon was a blessing !!!
This cartoon was from its intro to its story on point from the struggles and tragedies of Bruce banner while the action with the hulk is disastrous and relentless how it should . It took many own liberties that it isnt that faithful to the comices but didnt strayed away of its concept . The animations were great but not perfect . Still for the series alone its the best .

2010s hulk-smash-team-show was ... very off from the comics and had its great moments but the action was neutered and rather mediocre. The animation was great overall but it never reached its high action like the 90s show did . And the story was servicable but comes of as afterthoughts . And we had more hulks. That shows that quantity doesnt equal quality.

Maybe im wrong but thats what i got over the years watching cartoons.

And im sure staying at the older ones but there is bias and some nostalgia into it .

All very good points. But old cartoons were made for one thing and one thing only...
To sell toys. <hell new ones to, let's be honest>

Well before the 80s, not so much as the FCC in the USA anyhow, had some guidelines about it, but it was abolished in the 1980s, so it was free game then

EAnd speaking of classic series, I'm watching Fantasy Island.

Uma informaçãoA useful piece of information about old cartoons: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoon was made to sell toys.

Ill die happy when someone edits Mel Blanc's scream over new action scenes

EUI will die happy if they can see I watched all the cartoons that marked my childhood

I watch a ton of 80s and 90s cartoons growing up. And for some reason, the new cartoons don't wow me as much as the old ones. And yes, 80s and early 90s cartoons were aimed to sell toys, but they have fun characters, good animation and silly adventures compare to today's which aren't memorable to be honest.
