Totally.
It's completely different and borderline false advertising, but I always felt that the first two DQ games can have a kind of "kiddie Sword-and-Sorcery" vibe to them. This art is cool in its own right even if it's not Toriyama.

I love Toriyama's art too but I am glad this is one of the few US box arts for an older game that didn't end up looking absolutely cursed. It reminds me of the art you would see on a lot of AD&D rulebooks.

90s Capcom did have a nice mix of cartoony and badass for their official art. Gave it a lot of charm.

Some cgs from ‘Hikaru no Go: Heian Gensou Ibunroku’, all but one of the Hikaru games are untranslated; I hope they all get translations but this is the one I want the most. (Sorry for poor quality)
