Simple thread, as I'm curious to hear about others experiences in different reions.
What animated films have you seen in the cinema which weren't made by Disney, or it's contemporary rivals. DreamWorks/Illumination.
The more obscure films you may (or may not) recall fondly which no one else seemed to watch?

I've got one.

Nestled between my memories of Pokemon and Digimon the movies there's a film that lives rent free in my head.

Fox's ill-fated Titan AE. Oh yeah, I was in the cinema for this bad boy & I later had it on VHS.

It's not very good, but in retrospect I've learned to appreciated its ambition & the orchestral side of its soundtrack.
Especially considering it was originally pitched as live action film, which transitioned & started production as a full CG film under the working title "Ice planet".
I can't even imagine how much more disastrous and forgotten it would have been if it dropped in full CG.
All those "cutting edge" visuals being nuked into irrelevance by Final Fantasy: The spirits Within just a year later.

So, what did you see in the cinema?

Hmm Titan A.E. seems like a movie I would want to watch despite I don't watch animation movies. However I loved this one:

IDK much about animation movie companies but I think this movie is right for your condition for this topic.

The Iron Giant was the first or second movie I watched in cinemas. My dad likes to remind me of how I was scared of the stormy opening sequence, asking him if we could go home.
Thankfully we stayed and it became one of my all-time favorite movies. I even have an Iron Giant plush from when I was little which is very dear to me, which is apparently quite rare as the movie didn't have very much merchandise.

Well this will be "obscure" for no spanish-speakers but It isn't so much around here (or that's what I'd like to think). Its a movie produced in Argentina in 1999, written and directed by Manuel García Ferré, a very famous cartoonist here.
This movie was my first cinema experience, and I must've liked it because I remember having later, the book of the movie, and the cassette with the ost. They are probably around in my parents house, these pictures aren't mine:

Recently I've re-watched it, it is in youtube(only spanish language). Check it out if you want to see how it was because I'm not expert in animation and techniques to express a proper opinion. I just think it is charming, and the music beautiful and of course a lot of nostalgia.

I distinctly remember the original VHS Release having a mini plastic Iron Giant toy included and my parents wouldn't pay the extra whatever they charged.
So I didn't see the film until I was a late teen.
As the the film itself, I have zero recollection of seeing any marketing for it as a kid. It's a fantastic film but damn it released three months ahead of the Pokémon movie that was already being hyped up....

By the very studio that produced the Iron Giant. Good job WB 🎉

I remember that toy! I think I actually had it back then. He just stood straight but you could move his arms so it looked like he was flying.

That's the one! Now you've got me wanting to 3D print an Iron Giant

Ironically, None is my name and I thought this thread was directed at me.
I'll be leaving now. 👋

I once saw an anime of Wizard of Oz back in the early 90s and the witch had an eyepatch
