I was first introduced to Touhou when I saw the Ronald McDonald Insanity video. At the time, I just thought of it as a cool and weird video. I later found out that the song from the background was from Touhou: Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil. Afterwards, I played it and became aware of the Touhou series.

i have one related to touhou as well. it's been a long time since i thought about it but i remember a lot of youtubers back in the day would make references to the nitori get down video, and i had no idea it was from a game until i tried finding the song one day. after i found it i was like "what the hell is a touhou" and now it's one of my favorite game series lmao.

Curiously I had a similar experience with Touhou. It was a parody of some sort that involved Jojo. Funnily enough shmups are not my thing, but that video stuck with me. I think the video was called "Touhou isn't meant for Mac" or something like that.

I don't know if this counts, but I watched the original Danganronpa anime series through to completion before I ever knew it had anything to do with video games. I've still never played any of them, but I have some fond memories of that show. Good soundtrack, too.

For me it was the opposite (I watched the anime after playing 2 of the three games), mostly because I wanted to know if they screwed things up. They are good games, if you are willing to sufficiently increase your disbelief suspension.

I got introduced to Zone of the Enders thanks to an art analysis of Kazuma Kaneko´s works at Shin Megami Tensei and Persona
Wow! I literally saw this video for the first time yesterday. I was thinking of Devil May Cry and the devil trigger forms. Then, I just looked up Kazuma Kaneko out of boredom and decided to watch this video.

What a small world

An old japanese video on the anime series Zipang and how the video maker replicated it in Warship Gunner PS2 (sadly the video's now gone)

Alpharad's Smash videos with the username "Joker Main" before Joker was actually revealed was how I learned about Persona and then SMT

Also this was my first exposure to Mega Man besides the reveal, at least I think. I'm not entirely sure if Brentalfloss made me seek out and play Mega Man 2 or not, it's been a while

But wait, there's more.

How I first learned about Etrian Odyssey (I originally thought this was Touhou until I ended up hearing this in Etrian Odyssey 1)

My first real exposure to Touhou were a 100 memes video from back in the day (I don't remember which unfortunately, just that Bad Apple, Night of Nights, etc were there)

How I learned about Mother 3 in the strangest way was a YTPMV of Volcano Inferno with the Pokemon Shuppet. I can't find it anymore, which makes me think it was deleted

Elebits

I found out about DoDonpachi because someone requested the Boss theme under a cover by GillStudio, I forget which specific cover though, I'll let you all know if I find it. I just know it was pre SMT V and possibly Digital Devil Saga related

The devil trigger forms of dmc 3 are god-tier designs

Late Registration by Ye introduced me to games I think, mainly old ones.

Watched Felix the cat as a kid and i wanted to play a game based on it. Only game at the time was the NES game.

So i learn emulation and played this gem.

First game i beat and first game i emulated so this game is special to me.

Can't recollect if a video introduced me to any videogames, but I was introduced to touhou bc of a romhack that has absolutely nothing to do with touhou mechanics/genre, staring Marisa Kirisame as playable character and featuring touhou ost/lore lol...
