Hot takes

I follow a manga about figure skating called Medalist, whose first season (anime) just ended.

Yesterday I saw people all over socials celebrating the main character's birthday, and while I love precious lil Inori to heaven and back, I will never understand celebrating the fake birthdate of a fictive person. I mean real life people's birthdays make sense, it's the day you were born... duh. But while a fictive character can also have a mom and dad and a canonincal birthdate that the author decided on... they are not a real living person, so they have no real birthdate.

Like, I am all for being so attached to a fictional character that when you read the story they feel real to you, because that's a sign of good writing. But please don't go so far that you celebrate the "day they were born".... because they weren't.... that's going too far in appreciating the character in my stupid opinion.
That is merely the tip of the Iceberg in trends such as waifu culture and all it's derivatives

I see... always good to be reminded that no matter how weird you think you are... there are worse. You may have a foot fetish or whatever... but at least you don't celebrate fake birthdates because you have an unhealthy obsession with a fictional character.

I think most people on here are going to agree with that take, myself included.

RetroArch is great for anyone new to emulation or anyone that's unwilling to invest the time to set up anything better, but in my experience most enthusiasts tend to find it really limiting and annoying.
It was the first emulator I tried and I found it so convoluted and overwhelming that I gave up. This was years ago though, so maybe the experience is better now.

I dunno if it could be risky to say but I think that blaming capitalism for anything awful happening to you is like blaming the ocean for people drowning.

Sure, this is one of the biggest flaw about water but this is also why we must learn to swim and having life jackets. Same thing in life. Be prepared.

So you’re not allowed to be upset at an exploitative system for exploiting you?

Also, I think this probably falls under Rule 3.

I would never be that brave.

It's easy to learn about how it works. Not even with expensive courses.

"Exploitative" is pretty relative when there are ways to work around or making things less tedious. Work smarter not harder.

It's still the only system that worked so far compared to others that have been tried.
That’s such a reductive way of describing it (and I think we come from pretty different places so our definitions are different by nature). But whatever, I don’t want to engage in this because I don’t want to accidentally break the no politics rule.

Sorry for engaging in the first place but I don’t think this topic is appropriate for this forum.

I'm still wondering what is the clear line about the whole "no politics" rule as I'm talking about an economic system not a political belief (unless economics is intrinsically political therefore anything related to console and game pricing as well as auctions, bargains and even exchanges should fall under politics).

Maybe this is a risky terrain but what I'm saying is that instead of sitting down and complain about the system until things gets better it would still be more productive to get up and try doing something to help ourselves becoming a better version of ourselves to have a better situation.

Other systems have proven they couldn't sustain themselves as they always get issues and people will get a more miserable life.

Sure, the Status Quo could always change but I'll still say that evolutions are not systematically beneficial.

White chocolate is good, come at me "It's not even real chocolate" bros, i still love that milky flavor in my deserts

No cacao = not chocolate.

But in the meantime I feel that products could have less sugar, it would be better for health.

I don't care about my health as long as it tastes good, we're all gonna die one day anyway, besides I don't put on weight regardless of sugar intake. I bought a milkshake the other day and it was way too sour for me so dumped half a kilo of sugar on that b*tch.

I never understood...
They say white chocolate has no cacao, but it is made with cacao butter specifically.
I dont consider it chocolate, but a creamy confection, like "cajeta" or "dulce de leche".

because most people can't be bothered to actually check on stuff. i found the following info on white chocolate from 2 minutes of google searching:
"White chocolate is a confection made of sugar, milk powder, cocoa butter, and often vanilla and lecithin. White chocolate doesn't contain brown cocoa solids (also known as cocoa liquor or cocoa mass), or cocoa powder.

Cocoa butter, also called theobroma oil, is a pale-yellow, edible fat extracted from the cocoa bean (Theobroma cacao). It is used to make chocolate, as well as some ointments, toiletries, and pharmaceuticals. Cocoa butter has a cocoa flavor and aroma. Its melting point is slightly below human body temperature. It is an essential ingredient of chocolate and related confectionary products. Cocoa butter does not contain butter or other animal products; it is vegan.

For use in chocolate manufacture, the cocoa beans are first fermented and then dried. The beans are then roasted and separated from their hulls to produce cocoa nibs. About 54–58% of the cocoa nibs is cocoa butter. The cocoa nibs are ground to form cocoa mass, also known as cocoa liquor or chocolate liquor. Chocolate liquor is pressed to separate the cocoa butter from the non-fat cocoa solids. Cocoa butter is sometimes deodorized to remove strong or undesirable tastes."

i presume that most people know that vanilla is used in making white chocolate so they probably presume that it is swapped into the recipe in place of chocolate and is then made the same way as regular chocolate.

It's more complicated than that. From reading more in-depth articles, most chocolate flavor comes from cocoa solids, while cocoa butter has a much lighter flavor and is mostly used for texture and temperature reasons. White chocolate only has the latter, and in fact the cocoa butter used for it is even partly deodorized, meaning much of the flavor is removed in the process, so there is very little of the flavor component of cocoa in white chocolate. So white chocolate "has cocoa", but barely in the way that matters (flavor).

Personally I think it's good when mixed with milk chocolates, like in Kinder eggs. On its own it gets a little sickening pretty quickly.

Health is important though. And saying "we're all gonna die one day anyway" is a bit of a fatalist point of view.

It's because we only got one life that we must take care of it.

i know, but that was what i grabbed off of google by typing in "what is white chocolate made of".
it ain't that hard to look on google to find information and answers to questions but people seem to go out of their way to do as little as possible to find stuff. even without looking on the internet, i would have assumed that "white chocolate" is just chocolate with something else mixed in to make it white in color, mostly for the purpose of making more creative desserts.

My (not) hot take: most superpowers that sound cool to have would probably make the CIA kidnap you or kill you. Like there's no way they'd let you just fly freely or shapeshift or whatever. They'd 100% get you.

Never cared about my health neither. I always ate what I wanted and never had any kind of problem, my health is almost perfect. Moreover I can eat whatever I want without fatten up, thanks to anxiety and my metabolism.

3D Sonic games, at least all the main entries. None of them have bad controls, and especially none of them have a bad camera. My whole life I've heard nothing but shit about Sonic games and there cameras but NONE of them are bad at all. In fact I'd argue they're all quite good. I think the general public see it's a game for kids and turn there brains off because they shouldn't have to try or something. Then get mad when they fumble about and lose and blame anything but themselves. If you give an ounce of real effort to any of these games, the controls and camera work fine and the difficulty is very lax.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling them all good. I hate Heroes, Colours and Riders just to name a few. But the Adventure games, Shadow, and Unleashed (the proper version of course) are all bangers and I won't hear a bad word said against them... Ok I'll give you some leeway on Shadow but most of the missions are good. Turning your brain off may work for any game younger than Generations, but they were cooking in the 2000s man. People just suck at a game they've never played and would rather talk shit and write it off than get the hang of it.

I dunno, I played both Adventure 1 and 2 last year, and while I had a really good time with A1, A2 was probably one of the worst games I’ve played in many years. It felt worse in just about every way to me.

Kingdom Hearts is absolutely mid, and maybe that's being a bit generous even.
As someone who used to be a huge KH fan and still LOVES KH2:FM as the BEST combat KH,lemme tell you some Hot Takes associated with the series

Kingdom Hearts 3 is extremely badly designed game on both Story, narrative and Combat and it WASN'T WORTH the 13 years wait!

Osaka Team can't design combat properly! They are all STYLE over Substance! KH3 leaves you with Floaty Combat, terrible designed bosses, badly design MOBs and mob spam that is more like Dynasty Warrior!
Lvl 1 Critical KH3 showcased how badly designed it is!

Nomura is NOT a good writer! With Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance showed it, DDD adding time traveling to the plot was horrible decision!
The Disney worlds in KH3 are 100% Filler and have no impact to the plot like KH1 and KH2 do!

KH3 and KHUX (the mobile game, Rest in PISS) killed my love for the future of the series and left me a very grumpy man! ::booshy

What if you shapeshifted into a dumpster or something until they went away. Then you shapeshifted into the president and took his place, the secret service would have to protect you since you're the president now (i know, but please let me have this)
