Got around to watching it about 4 years ago now? I definitely have some opinions about it.
Story-wise there's actually quite a bit going on & I ended up watching the whole series! But if there's one word to describe it, it would be inconsistent. There's some highs but there's a bit more lows. It's also one of those animes where everybody except the main character (Saya) is a lot more interesting.

It's flawed, slow-paced & not very exciting but still maybe worth a watch. Still to this I don't know how to feel about Blood+ lol.

But the 2nd opening might be one of the best anime OP of all time, so it's got that at least!

Oddly enough I remember seeing posters for the live action adaptation on the side of bus stops:

It was probably the first time I saw something openly Anime adjacent advertised outside of magazines.

Slow, I watched Blood+ one decade or two ago. It is interesting, but I have not managed to finish it. Maybe I'll try it one day.

The sequel above seems to be cooler than the original. Putting a shorts under school girl uniform should be considered heresy though.

Wtf, I LITERALLY have just started watching Blood+

It will me my second time watching but for real this time. Used to watch it on Animax (RIP) but only a few episodes here and there. This time I will watch in its entirety.

I know almost every major plot points by now but I'm enjoying so far. Still in episode 6 so I still have a long way to go.

Nothing will ever stand up to the original BLOOD movie in terms of storytelling or quality. Blood+ says its a sequel but it may as well be an alternate universe spinoff with the choices it makes later on. Is it a bit slow? Yes. Are certain characters a little irritating and could use less screen time? Yes. Don't be afraid to fast forward at certain parts, especially during a specific story arc right before the last one. It will not hurt you and certain things do drag on a bit longer than they should. You'll know when.

Is it good? I would say its better than average for a 30+ action anime. It could be a lot worse. It could be better.

Don't read the manga or light novels. Also don't watch Blood C, which says its a sequel but it is doing the same spinoff/alternate universe thing but worse. Far worse.

I've seen only 4 episodes of this, because im waiting to watch the rest of it with my best friend. It was so good I felt that we needed to see it together. I found it very addicting and intriguing and i cant wait to see it with her. 2000s anime is also my favorite so yeah, expect 2000s vibes in full force.

that and a story that while i never got to see what the actual full thing was about, getting mostly character dynamic and relationships since i only caught glimpses of episodes whenever tv would bless me with them, it still encapsulated this feeling of reminiscence and sorrow through the visuals and tone that its been stuck with me since haha.

i honestly need to go back and give it a full deep dive.

tldr: it gets me sentimental whenever i remember this show, then i have a blast going to youtube singing along to the openings, specially the last one

This series and Berserk were the two I watched as little one in secret because I thought the gore was too much and would get me in trouble with my parents. The kills in this series are gnarly, even by today's standards.
