Nintendo has struck again! But read it for yourselves and form your own opinion. https://www.heise.de/en/news/Nintendo-wins-court-battle-against-defiant-streamer-10966596.html

It's not much of a shock.

This dude was streaming unreleased nintendo games that he aquired "less than legally".

Honestly, my main gripe with this whole fiasco is that it's likely to shine more light onto retrogaming and using roms/emulators again, and that could mean trouble for places like RGT.

Both sides of the lawsuit are fucked. Nintendo are fucked because they're Nintendo. This streamer is fucked because he hasnt' got a single chance in hell of avoiding this punishment.

Previously on RGT lol:

I'm not favorable to Nintendo for their constant lawfare against everyone... but this guy was pretty dumb to make a target out of himself so publicly.

Nintendo's stance on ending piracy and emulators because they still make money from their every game and console:

lolol

As I said in another thread, guy was asking for it.

He was doing the equivalent of lighting up a runaway and setting up beacons for Nintendo's lawyers to land.

Since the very dawn of file-sharing, piracy has always been about secrecy. Those guys uploading MP3s to IRC channels didn't do it because they loved the format, but because that was MUCH harder to track than regular websites. Why did the FBI set up the so-called "Honeycomb" sites? Because people who came in to download files illegally could be trapped on a logged "net" -- even game crackers from way back when anonymized their files because credit came with real heat.

To pull this crap in 2025 is just asking for trouble.

This is just a big "You Play Stupid Games, You Win Stupid Prizes." It's especially when it's Nintendo, that is like a very trigger happy dragon. It's just not going to pan out well for anyone this brazen.

Gangstas who own the street like him won't hide what crime they commit because all the stupid shit they do masturbates their ego and they love the attention they get for it. In his mind it was like winning a Nobel prize when he lost the lawsuit and had to pay money to Nintendo by being a clown and bitch of a company just like he barked for it like a dog. He doesn't get real OGs fucks with Nintendo in front of them and they can do nothing about it and they actually win the lawsuits against Nintendo and own the whole universe!!!! lolol

Nintendo is brutal when it comes to this type of stuff idk why the streamer thought it was a good idea brag about getting unreleased games. edit probably off topic but this is why I'm so nervous to upload any Nintendo gameplay or any big company game on YouTube . these corporations might just strike down the video for whatever reason....

I hate Nintendo, but the guy should've known you don't stream this kind of stuff without risk. Remember the poisoning meter from Dark Souls? yeah, there's a Nintendo meter like that when certain risks are taken. Youtube is too visible a platform and too happy to comply; it shouldn't be used for this.

On paper Nintendo is also against people modding their games and put videos about it on Youtube, but they only strike mods that is about what they may plan to do for their next games like BOTW multiplayer mod, playable Zelda mod, any large-scale mod that is like a game of its own, et cetera. As long as you don't put a video that you show yourself entering the game via an emulator you are fine. Those who also talk about how to use an emulator to play a Nintendo game better at risk too yet Nintendo didn't do anything to most of the Youtubers. They are selective on what video and Youtuber actually cause damage. They would be extra sensitive about Youtube channels encouraging pirating Nintendo content and make money from it by having really a popular reach though.

However Nintendo only allows positive reviews of their games in the context of a let's play video which you may read here:

So Nintendo is pleased you advertize their game for them but they want you to talk about the game in the video, they do not allow simply silent "walkthrough videos". And I publish my videos about how I ruin Nintendo games on me Youtube channel lolol:

Outside of the obligatory Nintendo being Nintendo, yeah the guy was just risking it by streaming the games early and Nintendo doesn't play around with anyone who tries to be ahead and show off the game before release. They always find a way to prove their point.

Lol, but i thought they let creator's talk about what they wanted to since 2018? basically i thought the whole Nintendo creator program was over. because negative Nintendo videos get lots of views like positive ones.

This man said “You run a company, I run the streets”.

Actual legend. And idiot. Idiot legend.

It’s like watching that one guy in school who’s a horrible troublemaker set fire to the teacher’s conference room and book it out of the school. Like, you know he’s toast and was stupid to even try, but he puts on such a show that you’re just happy to have witnessed it.
