Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 game announcements for 2026

Difficult to say what is going on in their heads but it somehow doesn't make sense to think about it.
What makes no sense?

I mean it's not like they've dropped Rhythm Paradise forever. Since it's the same team behind Warioware I can see why they wait until one game is finished to release the other.

Hi, are you feeling better again ?
I'm doing better, got some medicine and have been drinking a lot of tea for my throat. My busy day got pushed to Thursday, so I'll have a bit more time to recover first.

I see you know a lot of something like that. I don't think much about things like that.

I'll take it

Since the third game is probably never happening (until they would announce it) I'd take any top down arcade game of that style.

Also I'd argue that calling anything similar a "ripoff" isn't relevant since it's also fundamentally inspired by the early GTA games (especially the top down shooting aspect of game design) and 80's arcade games where one shot often means one life lost and that you have to learn the patterns of the enemies to survive.

Franchise dormancies do happen from time to time, and I agree a yearly release cycle might be too quick to really introduce large changes to the formula (though not always), but the opposite is much worse, in a way (dormancies that can last up to a decade or longer).

Sega are good at sitting on a pile of gold (even more than Nintendo and Sony).

Microsoft are the only ones not doing that but they rely mostly on third party devs.

But sometimes a franchise is better being dormant than having a bad timing or a disappointing entry.

I don't disagree, yeah.

In the case of something like Mega Man specifically I don't really understand the reluctance, though. I know Capcom is basically running the MH/RE/SF tripod for a while now (can't complain about MH being in focus), but I can't imagine having a smaller team working on more Mega Man entries would be much of a strain. The MM11 engine is solid, they should use it.

I agree on the last point but I'd prefer something that is more 2D like the Wiiware MM revival games...

Capcom should let smaller teams for their other series like Ghost n Goblins or even Bionic Commando as well.

2D is fine, but I always disliked Mega Man's sprite. If they go that route they should refine it a little bit.

Not interested in anything but Tomodachi. Looks like it's also on Switch 1. Good because I can't afford Switch 2.

Good move to have some of the smaller games still on the first console.

But I'm wondering if they didn't wait because they feared it would've been in self-concurrence because of Animal Crossing.

If Nintendo can commission Treasure for one last Sin & Punishment that would be great but I'm just waiting for whatever Monolith Soft is doing.
