The PDFs were too big to share as individual files.

> Mega Man Legacy Collection is listed as having compatibility issues

This keeps getting worse and worse for the Switch 2.

To be fair, that seems like a short list considering how large the Switch library is. If the rest of the Switch collection runs perfectly, it doesn't seem like a major problem. The only titles I saw that aren't download store slop were Fornite, Final Fantasy 1 and Street Fighter: Anniversary Edition. Hopefully, those get patches.

The fortnite is understandable as is a Service title, is free and has already announced a switch 2 version, the other ones sounds more like a lets force people pay extra money for patches

So they expect us to pay for the subscription to get switch 1 games running with better framerate and resolution while also saying "Sorry, lol, a lot of them will not run on Switch 2 anyways"
Very cool

Good God, why is asking for backwards compatibility like pulling teeth nowadays? The PS2 and the 3DS did it and they were almost 100% backwards compatible.

Apparently the old rumors about it not being really retro compatible but just compatible via updates may be real

This kinda reminds me of the ps3 on how it tried to be the ultimate PS and inflating the cost soo much that they had to get rid of ps2 backwards compatibility

By the time of Switch 2 release, it's likely that most of these titles will already be running well, as either Nintendo will have polished software or the developers will have created necessary patches.
And if not for the launch day, then soon after it.

The only problem could be games that no longer have support like NBA2K18

I know some games that I want on the Switch and Switch 2, and thankfully there is nothing that doesn't work, and I am happy about it. Hopefully INSIDE-SYSTEM, the developers of The Legend of Dark Witch, makes their propietary engines compatible with the system. They got it to be compatible with 3DS, Switch, PSVita, PC, and the Switch 1. :D

It's not very surprising with a library that large, the PS2 wasn't perfectly backwards-compatible either and that thing actually had it's predecessors CPU built in.

Still, they'll probably handle a lot of these before launch, although I could imagine some developers seeing an opportunity to make a dollar with a new port. (Doom Eternal, especially).

I never expected the Switch 2 to be 100% compatible (even the PS2 wasn't), & this list is surprisingly pretty darn short so it's acceptable.
"The issue is being investigated" is a nice thing to put because it doesn't necessarily mean these titles are doomed. Losing the few japanese titles would suck, but not much else was lost. Maybe except Pizza Tower &... Oh no! Felix the Cat!?

Seems like most games are gonna work just fine. Most arent fully tested yet. the ones that have significant issues could get a patch to fix them.

extrapolating this list, maybe 10-20% of third party games could have significant issues initially, but can then be patched to work perfectly.

Most gamedevs didnt even know their game might have issues until Nintendo posted about it on their site, because they dont have a Switch 2 devkit to test their own games on.

Honest, I thought this list was going to be tiny and just "We dont haven an IR sensor so ring fit wont work or fit into the ring"

Not stuff like "That pizza tower game you just bought? Doesn't work"

I was a bit concerned when I saw the article(s) talking about how it wasn't proper hardware backwards compatabiliy and was some weird hybrid between hardware adn software emulation to save on battery life.

Yet another good reason to give the system a miss until they've had time to prove it won't shit the bed on release.

Most of the PSX library runs fine on the PS2, around 2% of the library has issues.

The Switch has nearly 5000 games, if 100 of them have issues on the Switch 2 than that's also around 2% of the library. The difference is that in 2025 developers can release patches to fix conpatability on the new system.

Every console with backwards compatibility has been incompatible with some of its predecessors library. It's true for the Sega Genesis, the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Wii, Wii U, PS2, PS3, Vita, PS5, and now it's true for the Switch 2. It would be concerning if much of the library was incompatible, but 2% is very normal. The only reason the list is so long is because the Switch has so many games.

Xbox and PlayStation have both done this. It's really nothing to worry about, and games that have problems can be updated (or the system software can be updated) to fix any issues.
