Nintendo has struck again !

Nintendo being Nintendo. Unsurprising. They've been doing a great job in persuading consumers to consider AVOIDING the Switch 2 at all costs.
If shutting down a piracy group is what convinces you to not buy a console than I don't know what to tell you because that's not the W you thought it was.

If Nintendo were smart, they'd get together with Rare and Microsoft and make a more complete collection of Rare Replay that includes all the Game Boy, SNES, N64, Gamecube, and GBA games missing from it. Toss in the betas and make them playable.

i still need to kick gruntilda's boneybot ass

Remember when they went after NSFW nintendo fan art.
To be honest I too don't want a kid to find nsfw stuff on Google if he searched about art of their favourite character.

Yes, parents should also take a part of responsibility but I could see why they'd prevent any soccer mom from complaining about their small kid stumbling upon inappropriate material involving these characters made from a brand aimed at a younger audience.

Actually Fair Use laws
Fair Use is mostly ignored by the law and we're talking about a Japanese company so an US law concept has no footing there.

If an artist sells art based on pre-existing copyright material they are taking a risk and if a company doesn't react it's merely because they're tolerating those fan artworks rater than accepting.

I'd tell artists to prefer having original characters and brands to sell in case.

Same with fan games. It would even get sold as an indie game if the assets were 100% original.

Let's wrestle a Disney IP and a Nintendo IP for a collection that Microsoft doesn't profit from that isn't going to sell.

Very very smart, peak IQ move.

What about Capcom? Capcom has a Disney NES collection, as well as Aladdin in another collection. What about the Ducktales remake? It ain't impossible. What about Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion on the Genesis mini? Those were made by Sega. Disney games can come back.

The Nintendo IPs would only be on Switch 1 and 2. It would be exclusive.

Actually this is the opposite, many courts DO upheld the Fair Use, the issue is/was/will be the platforms the artist upload their work on. Those platforms do have a different law protection in several countries where they will be held liable for content, and instead of litigating it, they would rather delete the content as they don't have to spend a penny for it. It was why I said "It was a horrible act".

Youtube is the perfect example of this, cause you don't even have to prove you are the copyright owner, anyone can file a claim, and it kills the content creator when it does.

Says the user on a website dedicated to game piracy.
The main difference is that the site doesn't host Switch nor Switch 2 games. I hope that this is what makes some sites last longer than one straight up showing they're giving games that are still currently in shelves. This and even PS4 games.

I mean if the piracy site has S2 games and shutting it would convince someone not to buy the console then the person wouldn't buy those games in the first place.

WHERE TF IS SUPER MONKEY BALL 2?

Man, I cannot wait for a borked update for the system to come out and accidentally brick millions of Switch 2s by glitchily tripping the killswitch BB Nintendo so lovingly put in.
> Nintendo releases BS update to intentionally break Switch 2
> "non molto bene. si si you see you broke our terms of use. me mario angry!!!" -- Nintendo
> people complains
> Nintendo reminds you the laws: "We no illegal. Your government support us. We just small indie company yolo. You want Switch 2, buy another Switch 2 or no Mario to you"
> Nintendo also sues people by sending their country's law enforcers to their house to jail them for 5 years because they "broke the terms of use" and make people pay fine for 20 years
> Nintendo yakuza members celebrating this BS with Nintendo rap song
> "mamma mia!!!"
> FIN lolol

just add "don't"

Ok new idea: A Jim Henson Company StarFox TV show with real muppets, sets, and practical effects. I saw this AI video back when AI art was a new thing and it blew my goddang mind. I've wanted a StarFox series like this my entire life. A Fox in Space is great, but a show with real puppets would be cool too! The fact that Nintendo hasn't done this yet has baffled me for decades.

Too early to call for preservation, this is pure piracy and the switch being so easy to "emulate" they must be proud of this, nevertheless, the ports of the bay are always open, tis but a mere inconvenience for a see driven individual.

Preservation is valid when the game isn't legally available on currently active supports or without having to buy it from another reseller.

The Satellaview being pirated makes sense since Nintendo would never re-release those to the public (I don't know if a part of the rights belong to St.Giga).

On the other hand I'm legitimately getting worried about preservation of GaaS and online-only video games.

Hopefully the Stop Killing Games petition takes of the preservation issue, including the online ones.

Nintendo has always been a greedy company, but these last few years they have gone into overdrive with that. Funnily enough i don't have an issue with the console pricing, but the pricing on the games and the risk of it being bricked there is no way I'm buying that. From people getting bricked from using used games, buying a digital download key, and even someone getting bricked over their username.

You can't stop piracy like this. It would be more logical to lower the price of games.
I agree but in the end they've created ouroboros with videogames, bigger and better games, more marketing, more revenue needed for profit.... As a costumer i think prices are just too high for me to care and even more nowadays when you can get a game for half their price after a year of the release date.

Exactly my point. this is piracy.

This is a lie.

Not you mind you but from the industry dirty mouth, games used to be on cartridges, boxes had manuals had stickers had pins or even had their carts/disc in different colors from the norm.

Years ago this was the standard, not it what you will call DELUXE edition, so no.

The price increase is just a a business trying to see what they can get away with since they are in the unique position on the market.

Companies tend to spend users or consumers goodwill as currency and then we have backlashes like this.

And who profits from this?

That is the real question the shareholders will be asking, why have a product that Microsoft could profit on its own and then we have the same shareholders saying, this project will most likely not be critically successful.

The issues in the game industry are veeeery easily explained when you treat it as a economics class 101.
