Out now if you have found memories of the originals. So far the new game addresses all the issues I had with the NES trilogy (abusing frequent enemy respawns and horizontal knockback) and the controls feel much more responsive. I've been enjoying it a lot! Story takes place during the 1st game but its not a remake of the original.

I've been enjoying it immensly despite not really playing much of the original NES Trilogy but the 3D Era games. It feels like quite the return of Ninja games this year with this, NG4 and new Shinobi coming out soon.

I was never a big fan of the 2d games but i really wanna try this game out it looks like alot of fun

Glad to hear it's good! I love The Game Kitchen's pixel art and a somewhat straightforward 2D platformer (as opposed to a Metroidvania) sounds really good right about now.

Those NES ones were really tough!
I even wrote an article about how I sucked at the third one.
I recently replayed the NES trilogy but after a few minutes with the first game, I had to enable cheats as I just wanted to get through the games quickly to get a refresher of the overall story.

The NES games are unfairly tough, I never could beat them back in the day and had to resort to using a Game Genie in order to beat them. My fondness for these games attributed more to the cut scenes that played in between levels. It was the first NES game I played when I was young that had this cinematic feel to it, almost pre-Kojima in a sense, and I thought it was so cool and mature lol

I've been playing it in spurts but still enjoying it. Its much, MUCH more accessible than the original trilogy, there are checkpoints for one. The real challenge is getting a high ranking by completing all the optional objectives in each level, which I prefer as you can either breeze through the game if you want but also have the option to challenge yourself by getting a high ranking. And I'm assuming there will be some fun extra's to unlock if you do.

It's really good and I only played the 3D games. Very fluent game design.

I got robbed from getting an S ranking here LOL

I'm enjoying it for the short time I've played it so far. Some parts are bringing back flash backs to the anger I'd felt on the NES originals playing them. Doesn't help I haven't played anything this intensive in quite a while.
