In the 1990s i mostly rented games from video stores if you want to buy you also have that choice last i was aware. I collect physical copies of SHMUPs. Sometimes game pass and PS plus make me aware to some games i havent discovered yet it serves a purpose.
The NINJA GAIDEN: Master Collection is one of the best games you can have on a modern console or PC, each of the 3 games is special in its own way, but all of then are GREAT.

Yeah that´s my point we retend games back in the day as a kid I rented Halo and beat in one night or when I rented grandia on PS1 or Flint stones on NES. But yeah it was back in the days Videos stores are long gone and so was renting games. Today it´s like they want renting games to be the only opiton left and that´s why I hate game pass and PS + so damn much.
Yes they are in a way nice you can as you say discovery games but I believe in the end it´s bad for us as consumers. Game pass will become just like netflix more expensive and if you wanna skip ads in your game you have to pay even more and if you want 4k you need to pay extra and so on.
Sigma 2 is still better than 90% of video games out there even if its a shame that the original 2 is trapped on Xbox consoles via backwards compatibility. Sigma 1 vs Black 1 is definitely more of a "whatever you prefer" kind of thing though. I'm not a huge fan of Rachel or the dual swords so it definitely doesn't add all that much for me, but I at least understand why Sigma 1 has some that prefer it.
And no one prefers vanilla 3 lets be real.
Hopefully the rumors about Xbox/Xbox 360 backwards compatibility on PC are true and OG 2 can be released from its prison.

Just played this for the first time have them all downloading now. I shoulda been tuned into
this series years ago by the looks of it. View attachment 89583
Hopefully you are able to experience OG2 one time in your life. Sigma 2 is cool (imo) because of the Kunoichi being playable, and the Enma's Fang, but OG2 is much better in terms of design.
Sigma 2 "had" to be cut back so that it would run properly on the PS3, that's why there's purple mist and less enemies. I say had in quotations because Sigma 2 was somewhat of a remaster besides the crazy effects and I think that added extra overhead and they didn't really need to update it like that a year after the main game.
Ninja Gaiden 2 is a bit of a cursed game because there's never been a perfect release of it. OG2 is trapped on 360, and every new port has been based on Sigma 2. And the newest ports of it even broke things about OG PS3 Sigma 2, like some enemies having higher health bars and damage output on Master Collection and 2 Black compared to PS3 Sigma 2.
Either way though, hopefully you enjoy them enough to finish them. Ninja Gaiden is like top 10 game series for me, loved them even since I was a kid playing the NES games with my mom, and the PS3 ports with her boyfriend at the time. Really slick series.
