Now that the hype train has fully left the station and we're getting spammed with footage, I have very little doubt that this game is gonna at least mostly live up to the hype. Pretty much every worry I've had about what they'd do to "dumb down" or simplify the NG formula in the modern era has been erased. The only real thing I'm curious about is how much variety we'll have in terms of locale. Every bit of gameplay we've seen takes place in either the super white techy buildings or the samey-looking city streets. I hope we get a little more visual variety, but really if that's my biggest worry we're more than fine lol

The sound design is visceral and chunky, it animates as beautifully as the series ever has and the game is finding new ways to make Master Ninja difficulty a ruthless experience. Hitscanners that littered NG3 are back but with some subtle changes to how they stagger pressure along with the UI element that tells you when they're about to fire that makes them feel less unfair. Melee enemies can block you even in midair which is a terrifying prospect. You let down your pressure for any period of time and everything is gonna punish you hard, as it should on Master Ninja!

Yakumo is shaping up to be a really lovely edgelord protag ripped straight from the 2000s. Black and white hair, his scarf transforms into a giant one-wing during finishers, he has wild bloodbending powers and some one liners to boot. Anyone who doesn't like him will get to unlock Ryu to play through the whole game with after beating it once so that's also nice.

Half asleep so my thoughts are scattered and lazily phrased, but man oh man this is the rare non-Sega or Nintendo AAA game I'm ultra excited for. In an era of action games all being lesser soulslikes or Sony-style over-the-shoulder slow paced open world RPGs, this is such a breath of fresh air. If only for a moment, NG4 seems to be bringing the 2000s back :D

Thankful to Microsoft for making this happen and I'm happy that its multiplatform so no one misses out aside from people on Switch 2 (though who knows, maybe that changes if the game does well). October 21st can't come soon enough!

I had no idea this was about to come out so soon! Yeah, looks great - thanks for the reminder, will put it on my list.

Wasn't Platinum Games involved with this game in some capacity? Been a while since their last good character action release (I really did not like Bayo 3), I'm definitely down for this.

Ninja Gaiden 3 AGAIN!

this looks extremely frantic and plays like it's on 2x speed to me
maybe i'm getting too old for this kinda game.
it just looks like a lot of stuff that'll make me die faster than i can realize what actually killed me.
enjoyed the ninja gaiden sigma games (not that i'd ever beat master ninja difficulty, i'm not that into it)

If you like the Sigma games this will probably still appeal to you! The second video is Normal difficulty iirc while the top video is Master Ninja difficulty ams you can definitely tell that the lower difficulty ebemies aren't nearly as aggressive. The game looks to play at around original NG2's speed but not quite as frantic.

People have been begging for a demo (myself included) so I'm really hoping they give us one so folks on the fence can try it out.

Yea they are co-developing it! I can't recall if its Platinum being the primary dev whole Team Ninja assists or if Platinun is the team assisting. Either way they seem to be doing a bang-up job imo. Really sad Bayo 3 was disappointing to some folks, never got ariund to it precisely because ppl said it let em down.

Damn, when was it announced? Why didn't I know about this when it looks so good?
It was announced in January of this year during an Xbox presentation (Microsoft is funding/publishing) alongside Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. They have been pretty hush on it until recently tho, only giving us rare trailers or previews until TGS this year. Now the gloves have come off and I couldn't be more hype.

We know from the second video that there will be platforming in the form of wall running and grappling around, but I don't think the game will be as open as NG1 sadly. As much as I love NG2, I always miss how NG1 tried to be an adventure game with tons of secrets and puzzles.

Ninja Gaiden 3 AGAIN!
This is definitely the biggest blemish. Yakumo gets his 4 weapons but its been really tough to tell if Ryu will have any alternate weapons in the base game or if people will be stuck with the dragon sword unless they get the deluxe DLC.

On one hand, Yakumo is definitely the star of the show this time around and his base kit is fully fleshed out. On the other, why are we treating the former MC as chopped liver? Its already been controversial to switch main characters, so making Ryu's alt weapons be DLC feels like salt on the wound.

I'll be ok with it if Ryu has at least a few alternate weapons at launch. If the game launches with 7-8 weapons across 2 fully playable characters then I can forgive some stuff being DLC. If Ryu really is stuck with just his sword though, that's absolute BS.

Ok, now I'm not surprised why I haven't heard of its announcement

It doesn't look too special compared to the older games and Yakumo is lame so I'll probably skip this one.

Got the platinum trophy about 11 hours ago and I just wanna say that this game is amazing! It has its issues for sure, but it is easily one of the best action games we have gotten in the last 10-15 years. Still can't believe I'm playing a Ninja Gaiden 4!
