Monthly magazine from Japan covering anime and to a lesser extent, manga, seiyū, science fiction, tokusatsu, and video games.

Launched by Kadokawa Shoten on March 8 1985 and has since been released in Japan on the 10th of every month.

The name comes from the "Newtypes" in the Universal Century timeline of the Gundam series, Newtype launched a week after Zeta Gundam began airing.

Newtype usually contains a center insert with regularly serialized manga. The magazine is perhaps best known in Japan for serializing Mamoru Nagano's The Five Star Stories.

This magazine had a tremendous impact on my taste in anime, many MANY years back i realized that the Genre of MECHA is more, is a ''religion'' all the years i got deep in to this stuff and my experience showed me the way of reading behind the scenes. I Can't really explain it, few people will understand what i am trying to say.

I wish someone would translate these. I'm very intrested in all the interviews in them

-_-

I rather HAVE a giant a robot than watch an anime about one. It's been 50+ years, ya know

I remember getting a issue of Newtype in 94 or so, I was blown away at all the great art.

Later when I'd travel too the UK for anime conventions I try and get at least one issue per con.

Behold, one of my most prised possessions.
It's older than me and I somehow found it in the UK already imported from Japan
Thank you Newtype

I have a few issues of Newtype in my basement weirdly enough (a friend's into that stuff and has just left them full time over here). I'll take some pics sometime of them, no idea what issue number or anything it is, but I think it's from maybe the late 90's off the top of my head.

You should get them scanned for preservation.
