From Capcom, led by Adi Shankar, and animated by Studio Mir comes Devil May Cry - a Netflix animated series based on the hit video game franchise. Devil May Cry premieres April 3 2025, only on Netflix.

I really hope it turns out good, I saw the new trailer that was made on IG lately with the song made by Evanescence. Really damn good.

If this is a conservative play-it-safe approach to entertainment and the first series to deliver what fans would want 20 years ago than I won't complain too loudly.

Is Netflix promoting this DMC animation as Japanese anime?

Studio Mir worked on X-Men '97 for Disney+ with an American style animation.

Yeah, that's why it went four seasons. On Netflix. Obvious proof that it sucked.
13 Reason why, when for 4 seasons, whats you point?, just because it made some money or when for long doesn't mean its automatically good. : )

if we go by recent netflix records, i have zero hope of anything good happenning.

I’m so excited to watch. I love Devil May Cry. I liked the first two seasons of castlevania. Haven’t watched the others. I hope this succeeds and leads to more dmc content.

There seems to be a big marketing push behind this DMC animated series.

Limp Bizkit’s “Rollin (Air Raid Vehicle)” is the opening theme song.

Okay, I have to preface this by saying that I couldn't get past episode 2, I mean, wow. Just wow. I liked Dante from episode 1, honestly, I thought he was really cool and I guess portrayed good, but Lady? Man, I mean that was a shitshow. I get Lady is canonically very brutish but at least in games she has charm, in the show?? Downright a bratty teenager that can't go past 1 sentence without swearing, almost reminds me of a kid who just learned he/she can swear. Absolutely horrible, it was the main reason I couldn't get past episode 2. But thoughts? What did you guys like and what did you guys dislike? Was it a good adaptation? What could they improve on?

*Just a quick merge, saw we had already had a Netflix Devil May Cry thread*

Netlfixvania was abhorrent and it irreparably stained the series' community and reputation, I can't wait to see how cringe they can make this one but I doubt it will top Requiem
Being as someone who never beat a castlevania game... What was wrong with the netflix show? I only saw the first two seasons but it was good I thought.

As a casual Devil May Cry fan I really liked it. I only played the original 3 on 360 (although I played DMC3 back on Ps2 as well).
I played the reboot and liked that but not as much as the OG series.

I still haven't beaten 5 but loved the intro.
Interesting finale with America launching a war on Hell and the introduction of Virgil's human form

Was able to catch the first 10 or so minutes of the first episode, I liked what I saw, and I'm sure it'll grow on me but Dante's English dub was a bit too... childlike(?) for me in the moment

I'd rather not go into any details but I dislike how it portrays religion and the Church, it's ignorant and disrespectful to the source material just because the director has a massive hate boner towards religion.
Also he never played the games so fuck him.

It is somewhat period accurate. Not saying all Christians are like that or were like that. There is no denying stuff like the Salem Witch Trials, Holocaust, Spanish Inquisition, Colonialism etc. I am just stating historical events in which Christians did bad things.

Christians have done good things though like providing food and nourishment for developing countries. Castlevania chose to focus on the dark side of religion because it is more compelling and adds to the ambiance of what they were going for.

We can't really discuss more than that as I am already walking eggshells around politics.

However plenty of other celebrated media bashes religion and seemingly gets a pass from fans from JRPGs to WRPGs and onward.

Netflix DMC Is Official Fanfiction

I will not be watching this shitshow. Castlevania was ok, as long as you accepted it really wasn't trying to be like the games. Although it got massively worse with the "sequel" seasons. This new DMC, they say they ARE TRYING to be faithful to the games and then give us this cringe.
"what if le humans were le bad" and MURICA invades Hell as if it was the Middle East. Fuck off.
Demons are for doing 999-hit combos on, and styling on them mid-air, not for feeling sorry for.
