in this thread we drop screenshots of negative Steam reviews where the guy played more than a thousand hours

Black Desert Online. I was hooked, even going as far to leave my computer running 24/7 for about 2 years just because of its afk lifeskills. Then one day they just did a total 180 with game balance, rolled out the biggest nerfs to everyone, while not addressing the real core issue, along with it they introduced a bunch of Pay 2 Win they promised they wouldn't. Today id leave a negative review if i was playing it on Steam, i easily had a few thousand hours.

There's a special place in Heck for people that do this (obvs excluding when the devs ruin the game with an awful update). Like idc how salty you are, you owe them the decency to not tank their reviews

I did that with Warframe, lol. It sucks watching one of your favorite games slowly become something you don't like.

as someone who used to play a lot of online fighting games, I fully feel the pain of these types of reviews. Just pure infiltered salt  Took a quick look and found this one from just last month. Doesn't matter the game, you'll find reviews like this in all the big competitive fighting games (though this one is obviously quite extreme)

You see this with a lot of live service games now. The game gets review bombed and there's dozens of content creators covering the "disaster" and then everyone continues playing anyway. Tekken 8 is a great example for that.

I'm sure the person in your screenshot will be at 9k hours very soon

i'm not really ashamed of doing this once with Vermintide 2

this was back during one of its absolute worst states about a year in and it certainly improved some time later when i gave it another shot, but i've really never felt the need to fully retract my brief unsavoury assessment. i'd really just still be playing the first game if it had even half the retained playerbase of 2.

I remember seeing a guy bashing The Secret World after putting up "employee of the month" numbers on it, logging weeks worth of gameplay over a substantial period of time, nearly a full year lol.

The game became pay to win and all that players efforts were wasted. His favourite game deteriorated. I think he's in the right to tank their ratings. he bought it, he should be able to play it without it being pay to win. This aint diablo immortal, its a premium paid game

Its been some time since I last played warframe. Whats wrong?

I always get a kick out of these reviews and message board people. "This is objectively one of the worst games ever created. I should know because I 100%'d the game on 3 different consoles."

Even though they're often speaking out of frustration, maybe they have a point. Addictive doesn't mean fun or good. It just means addictive. Many modern games are designed to trigger that dopamine loop, but dopamine isn't the pleasure molecule, it's motivation/excitement. So you feel the need to go back even though you're not really enjoying yourself. Those people aren't hypocrites for going back to it, they just don't realize they're unironically addicted to the game they hate. I'm sure plenty of drug users hate the drugs they're on, too.

I've read what you've said and alright. I can agree to some degree. By the way, i've dumped shantae advance, the new gba game, onto this site. You can click on my profile pic to find the thread where I've posted the download. Have fun!

I think there are a few basic things OP didn't understood well to write this thread.

1. Steam asks a very simple question : "Would you recommend this game?". Hours played is irrelevant. You can spend hours reading a book with a lame ending and say you wouldn't recommend it.

2. Live service games constantly updated can play and look very different of what they were a few updates before.

3. You can say you wouldn't recommend others to buy a game you found excellent. Disco Elysium is an excellent game. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying it because the IP was basically stolen from the original creators of the game with a scam.

4. I would rather trust someone having clocked 1000 hours to explain the negative points of a game, than a stupid bot account having clocked barely two hours and leaving a positive review.

5. Thousands of hours clocked on a game may span several years and in that time people can change taste, or make mistakes. The more power to them to assume their mistakes and warn others.

All in all, I think fanboys should stop being butthurt so much that someone on the Internet is having a different opinion than them and act like a negative review on Steam was like an insult to their girlfriend.

I've played Vermintide 1 and 2 for maybe 600 hours total and this is spot on. I also think they've alienated the great modding community that gathered around those titles and never acted on their words to give dedicated private servers. Just for more paid skins.

Quite ironic for what is at its core a glorified mod of Left4Dead (which is also a mod).
