Funny story, this one is. I got a reservation to camp on the South Rim the day prior, and the guide checking us in mentioned a path leading to the rim to see it. I end up waking up at like 4 AM (largely as my body clock had been toast due to constant time zone changes) and just said screw it and went. Apparently, I went off the trail and ended up in a completely different area in the dark, so I sat somewhere and waited for a little light. I found the spot I took that photo on when it got bright enough to see without flashlight. Turned out it was the better view.
