There is an exclusive titled on the 3ds, which was released eshop only, it reminded me a lot of echo night from the psone. Similar vibe, except your locked in a box and your expressing yourself in game as another avatar.

Does this ring any bells for any one?

Found it! The game is called The Star Ship Damrey!

Link to detail

It was made by Level 5 in 2013. And while this is futuristic and has more in common with Echo Night beyond. The Graphic style is more in line with Echo night on the Psone, which is why i had this in mind. But thinking about it, if i showed Echo night beyond on PS2, those who have played The Starship Damrey may have recognized this quicker.

TSD Vs Echo Night Beyond

Comparing them, beyond the concept of being stuck in a box and interacting with the outside world with a robot, i think Level -5 copied more then al little of From Software's homework. But that's a good think in my books. These type of games should make a come back!

Looks like a first person dungeon crawler:

-(older) Shin Megami Tensei games (and a few modern exceptions like Strange Journey, Persona Q, Persona Q2)
-Etrian Odyssey
-The Dark Spire
-Metroid Prime
-Mary Skelter
-Criminal Girls was recently put on the Repo, but I haven't played them for myself so idk if they are the same or if they're good
-Labyrinth of Touhou
-Touhou: Artificial Dream in Arcadia
-Shining in the Darkness
-Phantasy Star (only the first on Master System)
-Ultrakill (not the same as the above but a lot of similarities to them and the example soooo)
-Starcrawlers
-Stonekeep
-Class of Heroes
-Baroque
-Arcana (which was originally named Cardmaster)

OK admittedly I have not played every game on this list
Stonekeep and Starcrawlers showed up when I looked up First Person Dungeon Crawler (aka DRPG)
Class of Heroes, Labyrinth of Touhou, and Criminal Girls are games I know of but haven't checked out
and Mary Skelter is a game that I 100% plan to buy and check out when I can (probably after I go after Etrian Odyssey 1 HD and the entire Blazblue saga)

Well you are kind of right, you do explore in these games, but you pick things up that push the story along and in echo night, the order in how you do this changes future events and the ending. This is why i loved them so much, perhaps a mystery crawler? In the vain of point and click games, but first person.

Interesting, I'm still gonna rec older SMT in that category. They tend to be a bit cryptic as many SNES era games are but something I've always enjoyed is that they're kinda free reign in a way despite not actually being free reign, you can't just march to a late game area from the start. Other than the though, idk.

I may not be communicating effectively (or it is additional caffeine time).., or the way i responded to my own initial post and it getting joined to the response. The Starship Damrey.

This is the game i was referring to being like Echo Night / Beyond, and put up comparative picks.

But i appreciate your response and efforts, you have named some titles i will be looking to add to my list, as they do seem interesting.

Yeah no, those are first-person horror games, the gameplay is basically adventure (exploration + puzzles to advance the story). So they aren't like Shin Megami Tensei at all.
You might want to check out Hellnight on the PS1, some people swear by that game. There's also The Note in that genre.

I like D2 on the Dreamcast, which has some elements of these games - it's first-person when you're inside, and third-person outside. It does have fights though, sort of a RPG battle system. It's a unique game.
