I simply cannot understand the Nintendo hate.
They are overzealous about copyright/emulator stuff. Absolutely. I wish they were more lax about it but its their IP and I think it kind of sucks but thats it.
They charge more for their product than you want them to. Okay... if their product isn't worth the price they're asking, dont buy it. They have every right to charge what they want.
Seriously, how are they "evil"?
Well personally Nintendo's existence is no treat to me and I do accept the fact that Nintendo using their legal right to protect what they own. In this context it's no different than an artist burn whole social media just because a company used their artwork without permission, so the artist could be like "dude I'm glad you use my artwork" or "I'm glad people will enjoy my artwork" but some artists choose to play victim card and to make money they do whatever it takes. Naturally it's their legal right too that some people would think "damn these artists are evil too!!" lol.
Then this become a psychological topic that most people feel like a "victim" for many reasons they have therefore they wanna be "superior" which makes them jealous for anything that has more power, therefore they classify themselves as "underdog" therefore it make them side with any underdogs against whatever has the power like a company.
In the end companies are way weaker than customers because without customers a company is nothing but without company customers will still exist as a person who became customer of some other company or not at all. Companies knows it therefore ironically companies feels like a victim against customers when also customers feels like a victim. It make both sides using their sense of morality as an excuse to attack each other lol. Particularlly Nintendo prone more to feeling like a victim and probably believe they are a merchant ship surrounded by so many powerful pirate ships wanna hijack their ship any moment lol.
So when companies "don't know their place" and they attack "underdogs" like people who just sold a save file or save file editor which society wouldn't even consider it as harm, naturally it makes people hate Nintendo for double reasons that they attack underdogs and what they do is "morally bad". Basic human logic is when something powerful has a potential to harm society will wanna get rid of it. This is the way it's. No village will ever think a bear living around in peace should be allowed to exist, whole village will genocide whatever bears, wolves and whatnot around. However companies playing "trader" card that "I sell you want you want", but in the context of luxury items luxury items are so unnecessary it's the easesit type of product most people easily ignores. So if Nintendo had continue with this BS, which relatively they gained popularity because of Switch 1 in recent era and when Switch 2 sucks so hard it make people think "Nintendo just gone shit" and naturally it will cause a common sense of "Nintendo is bad" so hard buying Nintendo stuff will be no different than eating shit as a hobby lol.
So in one hand Nintendo is no criminal and actually hunt down criminals that harms Nintendo in any way possible, what they do is deemed "bad" and naturally since people only care about their own gains, they see what Nintendo does is a threat to their gains. Perhaps it can be justified that Nintendo destroy ROM communities and emulator developers in the context of "it hurt their sell and if they cannot make profit they will be no more" so you can continue to use Nintendo products, but when they even attack game modders, artists and save file editor developers and all society crosses the line there.
And then they releasing a low-quality product Switch 2 for an expensive price way more than it worths and then they enforcing their BS rules that justified how they can make people stop using Switch 2 and all these all BS is naturally peak "evil" in the sense of morality moment here. Yes they make business and this is how business is but in the context of sense of morality society doesn't have to care about how they are lawful and good at business lol.
This naturally brings us the necessity of, for proper business a company has to be socially acceptable by obeying sense of morality because beyond the fact that people like to own and avoid loses most people are guided by their sense of morality that everyone has their "hell no" tolerance level to "awww that's so sweet" level lol. Naturally they don't wanna support anything as bad, especially the ones that the person believes that BS causes harm in whatever way the person believes.
In the end a company can profit by doing "evil things" because not everyone cares, but for proper business and maximizing profit and ability to use "goodwill" you had in the mind of society to dodge whatever BS thrown at you, you have no choice but to "go with the flow" of the society. So there is a good way to protect your own stuff and there are times you should just "let it go". For example in this stage that society really think Nintendo is rubbish if Switch 2's had started to explode and even some people were hurt because of it Nintendo cannot recover from losing "face" in the society. Nintendo will be so forgotten and whoever worked in Nintendo cannot even find jobs. But relatively if Steam Decks had started to explode people wouldn't really blame Valve for it. It would be like what happened to Samsung. It means idiocy of Nintendo makes Nintendo a risky company that stands on thin ice lol.
If I had owned Nintendo, from the start fan video game developers are not something to sue but hire to make profit for me. Naturally only a fan can develop a game that a fan wants. Instead they prefer to make random guy in the office as video game developer to reduce costs lol.
I would see save editors and use it to my advanced with my own market to allow people sell save files and whatnot and make profit from it by taking very tiny % from every sell.
I would support artists in my own system by allowing them to upload their artwork -> turn their artwork into a merchantise -> allow people to make money by taking very tiny % from every sell.
I would support game modders and allow people to sell mods and do the same. My console and their games would naturally have a system suitable for them.
What instead of "evil way" Nintendo takes "noob lazy way" to make money by selling rubbish and suing people willy-nilly lol.
