Help [N64] Need help with my mupen64 emulator

I'm playing wonder project J2, but it's so laggy DX , it keeps slowing down so much. Does anyone know how to make it run faster or smoother?

Are you using mupen directly or a GUI? If you're not using a GUI use Rosalie's Mupen Gui which comes with mupen built in and a front end that you can toggle configurations. That way maybe you can adjust so it's not so laggy.
