I love my shoes.

They are comfy, stylish, solid, light, and can absolutely withstand the absolute beating that's my everyday life, a harsh trial many a leather and rubber sole has fallen to -- I'm really pleased with them!

However, it all kind of falls apart as soon as it starts raining.

For whatever reason, the very concept of traction seems to have been taken as a mere suggestion back at the factory that made them, resulting on shoes that are elite... on dry ground.

As soon as the streets are coated with ANY level of water, I start sliding all-over the place with all the grace of a drunken uncle at a family reunion. That's not too bad on the sidewalk, but crossing the street is starting to turn into a game of chance with a high probability of evolving into a round of man vs bus because the combination of asphalt and rainwater not only negates most contact points between myself and the actual ground, but also tends to accelerate my momentum in the last direction I had swung my legs towards: if I had been rushing to make it to the other side before the traffic light changed, I usually find my leading leg moving on an exaggerated, barely-controlled arc that hurts a bit and makes me instinctively brace for impact (even though is has never resulted in anything bigger than a stumble).

It really reminds me navigating the Ice Path from Pokemon Crystal, but with a lot less rocks... And a lot more traffic.

I know I should probably be more terrified (or at least annoyed) than amused, but I can't say no to adventure and this has certainly made my walks all the more interesting XD

Have you ever experienced something like this?

Use the shoes to slide skillfully through the gutters and save time and energy you would have spent walking in the rain, just don't fuck up and be a klutz and hurt yourself, or else the consequences are gonna be way worse than the benefits would pay off 😂

I forgot to buy slip-resistant shoes when I took my first sanitation job, so I was pretty well ice-skating on department floors after cleaning them. Turning the floor scrubber on and just riding behind it like (very slow) water skiing was fun :loldog

Yes, when i was a kid i got a pair of fake Nike Air shoes and the heels were hard transparent plastic with no grip. They were fine on grass but the school gym was basically an ice level
