The game has a very good story, with mostly fun character and interesting ideas. Alexia is easily the best part of this game, but she sadly only plays a direct role at the end of the game. And of course, Claire and Chris are great characters to plays as, with great personality.
But, I have to talk about the bad part of the game, the gameplay. Holy shit it's bad, the game is a backtracking hell, you walk around back and fourth more than you walk on death stranding, and most of it is unecessary too, because there is mostly no new challenges on the way back(and when there is a threat, it's bullshit like the moth hallway, fuck those moths). Most of the bossfights are dogshit, the ONLY good one is the first one with Alexia, the others are either easy bullet sponges or unfair fights, like the one with Steve that I have no idea how they even came up with that shit. The game is very chessy, I usually dont care about it because I grew up with 80's movies, but they do not stick on a game that takes it self seriously. And the worst part of the game, the possible softlocks, if you play the game blind, you will atleast get to a semi-impossible to beat situation, you HAVE to know about the bow rounds, the fire extinguisher, and to not bring anything useful to the Nosferatu fight.

And that's it, just wanted to talk a lil about the game because while I enjoyed some parts, I had frustation on others, easily one of the worst main-line Resident Evil games.

I bought this on a bargain bin sale a long time ago for $2, it was alright, definitely the worst one of the mainline. I'd like to see this one remade, it has potential.

The backtracking is complex indeed, most REs use the classic hall as a point of center

CV just pushes you in multiple locations at once from the start, the second part beeing more linear

Still an excellent game imo

Definitely backtracking hell, there's no denying that! But at the same time, the whole Antartic Base chapter feels like it was done almost perfectly. Nosferatu in particular is probably one of the creepiest things to come out of the RE series. The lore, the reveal, the scream, moody fight. Oh ya, you can drop a save in the same room where you first meet him, but never have I been more uncomfortable saving in a place with the most god forsaken scream ever.

After bouncing off it many times since CVX was released, I managed to finish it not long ago. It's not the worst mainline RE game (Hello RE0!), but it's pretty far down there. x) The boss battles were absolutely my least favorite part. If any game in the series needs a remake, it's this one.
