PS3 My PS3 won't do any web browsing

Because my mind is a constant game of Pong, my previous thread about taking consoles online made me circle back to a problem I have been having: my PS3 just won't load any pages.

Now, granted, I hadn't tried that in almost a decade (2017, to be exact) and I know it's extremely possible that it has just gotten hopelessly outdated since, but I still find it interesting because it can kinda, sorta load Yahoo.com and ONLY Yahoo.com (not even Google!).

Was this the devil's bargain I paid for getting it moded (MultiMan) or is it simply not suitable for web browsing anymore? Are there tips or tricks I should try/know about?

Getting on RGT through it would be sweeeeet.

Could it be because the browser is old? You need to update the video game console to see if it works; if it doesn't work, it's because the video game console is old.

I mean... It says it's updated, but I have read that updating it just won't do (and could make everything significantly worse).

I was hoping for a way to beat it into submission.

I think it still works some what if you write the whole link in the search thing but the regular way to search won't work anymore.

with 256MB of ram, browsing the modern web sounds like an odyssey! probably the ps4 and xbox one will remain viable for web browsing for much longer since 8gb of ram is still a decent amount of memory

I mean... It is true that I only used it sparingly and very specifically back in the day ("lightning" Wikipedia searches, overseeing some SMF communities...), but I never noticed it struggling with any of that.

I am sorry but you probably don't want to hear the cold truth: PS3 is outdated in every single way you want to use it as a computer. Even if you install Linux, it will be outdated, limited and slow.

PS3 is now a device for playing videogames (or watch a movie if you want, but watch out the codecs), and that's it. A function it does wonderfully, and we don't need it to do any other things because nowadays you have computers on the trash more suitable to do those things, such as web browsing.

Enjoy the console the way it was meant to be.

And, yeah, it was kinda rough with codecs (although, interestingly, it was the ONLY device on my household able to play a certain movie).

The reason it's not loading google is because google is garbage and not allowing old browsers anymore
Try lite.duckduckgo.com worked for me last year, but browsing modern internet on ps3 is pretty painful experience. I only use ps3 internet for ps3xploit
