Manga My final Christmas present is the rest of the Akira manga

First watched the movie in my own time a couple years ago

Then last year, I took up a class about sci-fi where we had a pseudo final project where we had to bring in a sci fi book and talk about it briefly. I saw a lone Akira volume 1 in the local bookstore and since it was something I knew, that was that.

And then earlier this year, I took up a class about animated films all over the world and guess what was the first movie we were scheduled to watch in class?

And a few hours ago, my grandma got me the rest of the manga as a final Christmas present. So I’ve been rereading the first issue for the past few hours before pivoting to something else when the timer is up.

So yeah uhhh Akira

I bought all of them last Christmas. I first rented Akira on video from our local spot back in 1994 or so. I was amazed by it and almost sad it took me this long to read the whole story. I hope you enjoyed it!

The manga really goes some places, and the artwork is really great. A classic by all measures.

Very nice. Quite nostalgic seeing those volumes. I used to have the Dark Horse comics version of this release back in like 2008 or something, but I picked up the 35th anniversary boxset a few years back. It's a really nice set:
