Music you find overrated or "not your thing"

There is a lot I don't listen to purely because I can't feel it in my nervous system when it hits my ears.

If it doesn't feel like smoke rolling over my skin, I don't want it. I'm very picky about it, and tend to listen to the same artist for a long time. Last year, I listened to Metric the most. And by most I mean way too much. Every album on repeat. Everything else made my brain sad.

I never listen to country so I would pick that. Also rap to an extent, I feel like if you were around for late 2010s rap, you’re not missing out much on the current rap scene now. The people may be different now sure, but it’s not all that different sound wise. Excluding a few rappers who do manage to switch things up. Maybe I just outgrew that music scene, who knows. ::cirnoshrug

Don't really think theres any overrated music or inherently bad music, I try to give all music a chance even if its not my usual thing

But..

I hate when streamers or youtubers with no musical training beforehand try to make songs. Sadly, in the spanish community its starting to become a trend. Heres an example, its in spanish but like the lyrics are so bad... Its a musical base and he still made it sound bad. How is that possible?

cannot fucking stand black country new road. any time theres a new band being unanimously glazed on RYM its basically a 50/50 on them sucking

For all the nu-metal haters here: fuck you I mean, I can certainly get where you're coming from, at the least. It's good for me to blare when I'm pissed off and... that's about it really. I have to be in the right (or wrong I guess) moods to listen to it.

I otherwise can't stand Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll™ music these days, myself. Motley Crue is my biggest example of this. Forgive me for saying this, but it's like the friggin' white guy version of gangsta rap, and just feels soulless to me. Maybe it helps I'm a damn near straight-edger? I can always make exceptions for specific songs, but not always for whole bands. A couple of songs by Poison (Look What The Cat Dragged In) and Skid Row (18 and Life) are such examples of exceptions.

I also never got the appeal of Marilyn Manson. I honestly prefer Monroe over Manson, far as my Marilyns go. Same with Aerosmith, their songs always felt like a big nothingburger to me and I dunno why.

Also shoutout to @miguk on this thread. Their commentary is usually very insightful and wonderful, but I feel they stole the show in the best ways with their posts on this thread.

This might be a hot take as I've seen a lot of people on these forums enjoying it, but I'm not a fan of death metal.

Also, most country(not Johnny Cash).

I'm a huge fan of The Weeknd. That said, I absolutely DESPISE his biggest song, Blinding Lights. It sounds like garbage and is tacky and I hate it so much. I hate that its so popular.

I also hate that I can tell when a song is going to become hella huge and popular, because they ALL give me that same "Blinding Lights" boring ass tacky feed the masses feeling
