As a Danish kid listening to a lot of English pop songs I didn't understand the lyrics, and now that I do understand them I kinda wish I didn't. Anyone feel similarly?
Either or. Understand the language or understanding what the lyrics mean.Understand as in getting the lyrics?
And sometimes singers make faux-deep lyrics or that people think of a deeper meaning when a song is about something simpler. Not really. I tend to look at vocals as another instrument and don't really pay attention to the meaning behind the words. Most song lyrics are pretty dumb anyway.
Hmmm maybe this is why I have this copy of Doppelganger by Curve that I've never listened to all the way through....EDIT: just remembered a song I used to listen a lot in my teen days, and while I still love to listen to it understanding it kinda makes me shiver: Coast is Clear by Curve read em lyrics:
THAT'S FUCKED UP and I never got it when I was that young.Above my bed, in this ugly room
Hangs the whisper of the same man
You can't be my father
For the love we've shown
It's just a little to me
It's never enough to swallow those pills
Now I'm sick, and always will be
Take it, I don't want it
You can have what you like
Just don't try to trick me to sleep
