Wily Tower Stage 2 from Mega Man: The Wily Wars is a banger and one of my favorite Mega Man tunes but also it's pretty upbeat for a villain base lol.

The entire Dungeon Siege soundtrack just... doesn't belong:

It's great music, but way too calm and atmospheric for the kind of massacres and epic battles that surround it.

What came to mind was this....::sailor-embarrassed

Also, first time I played a Dynasty Warriors game the ost surprised me at first with it being about ancient china but blasting out rock as opposed to the traditional stuff you'd expect and I love it for that. ::winkfelix

A majority of Wily Stage themes don’t fit in all honestly.
Examples include

-Wily Stage 1 (Mega Man 3) (are we sure this isn’t just a robot master stage theme lol)
-Wily Stage 1 (Mega Man 4) (sounds more like a stage theme)
-Wily Stage 1 (Mega Man: Dr Wily’s Revenge) (ironically the Mega Man 10 remix fits more and doesn’t even play in a Wily Stage this time)
-Wily Stage 2 (Mega Man 7)
-Wily Field (Mega Man’s Soccer)
-Wily Stage 1 (Mega Man 8) (too odd sounding)
-Wily Stage 2 (Mega Man 8) (too serene, Saturn Tengu Man’s theme should’ve been switched with this one to fit)
-Strange World (Mega Man 9)
-Gear Fortress (Mega Man 11)

(Surprisingly every single theme in Mega Man 10 fits)
Doesn’t make them not good, just want to specify that

I love Deadly Premonition but since it uses the same couple tracks during story scenes, sometimes they miss the tone of the conversation. More often than not it works like intended (juggling very dark stuff with comic relief), but in some places where it could use a serious track for a bit longer it just switches to the upbeat one to add variety for no reason.

They mostly say its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility...
Mostly...

The ps2 era onward for the Spectral Series is the poster child for unfitting music. It’s not that is bad per se but it’s when it plays, like the composers weren’t even looking at the game. Imagine if like Final Fantasy X only had bomberman menu music to chooses from for their serious cutscenes.

So I couldn’t find the ones I was thinking of like from Generstion of Chaos V Aedis Eclipse (which was clown car music for super serious story bosses) but in Blazing Souls Accelate this kind of music drove me nuts because the conversations between Zelos and Little Snow (like the one with the elemental core) were so maturely written… but it played fucking goofy loud elevator music! This was one of the effects of Idea Factory getting eroded by Compile Heart among other things.
