MS-DOS Game 'Ecstatica'

I am reminded I didn't link my review of the game here.
#ShamelessPlug

I considered playing Ecstatica 2, but after looking up some gameplay... Yeah... I liked what they did with the first game more.

I think Ecstatica 1 is in my top 10 of favourite games. For those thinking of playing it, there are 2 versions as mentioned in this thread. The original DOS version and a later Windows version.

Gameplay wise the DOS version is the best as all the events/enemies behave properly. The Windows version can look and sound a lot better though. The resolution and framerate bump helps and the tracks are remixed, sounding better on various MIDI devices.

The Windows version does have some issues, the major ones that some events aren't always correctly triggered (speed issue?) and the changed behavior of the Wolf. The Wolf can follow you to more spots in the Windows version but if you kill it... it just freezes in place.

one of my favourite game in the 90s.As for the sequel, I finished it one time and did not bother again.
Monsters lacked the AI of the first game and it was a rather annoying game

Though I remember I found the two minotaurs more scary because I the woods there were less places to hide and they 'd knock you out with a few hits

But once you got the holy relic, it was a pleasure killing them and the werewolf, though I remember he would respawn sometimes

The cartoon design made the violent and nudity scenes look funny but the music made up for it reminding that this is a horror game.

Also it was fun watching the girl outsmart him.

Back then I had Sb card but now I can play the dos version with Roland and Gravis Ultrasound midi music, making it even better.

Unfortunately ecstatica 2 has issues with Gravis. Probably bad programming
