So I've been in the mood to play a lot of doom mods lately, and one thing I've been struggling with is when a mod gives me a lot of movement options I hesitate to use them on most maps. Doom maps are mostly designed with the implicit understanding that you won't be able to jump up a 2 foot ledge, so even the default jump in UZDoom can cause significant sequence breaks, let alone what you can do with mods like Highway Acceleroid Booster, Treasure Tech, Guncaster, etc. Does anyone know where to find map packs that are at least a bit harder to sequence break with jumping?

very similar experience for me too. Its why I like to use weapon packs that dont add movement mechanics. Only one i can think of is "Diabolus ex" mod. Its a single level i think designed like deus ex levels so lots of interesting things going on there

Im sure you know about AUGER; ZENITH already. That one is vanilla and pistol start but i found it works just fine with high profile movement. You just end up with a few secrets you otherwise had to obtain differently. The maps are completeable

yeah last time I tried diabolus ex was with hideous destructor and that one was pretty cool, and I actually went back into Auger; Zenith yesterday with diamond dragon, been having fun with that. But I yearn for the maps that let me live out my first person Sonic power fantasy without crumbling beneath me. I mean aside from playing SRB2 with first person enabled.

have you heard of selaco? its not doom mod but its standalone game made in gzdoom engine. Its similar to F.E.A.R in its gameplay

yeah I've played a good bit of it, sister bought it on our shared family library. It's pretty cool even if I have trouble seeing enemies a lot of the time

I think most modern maps have jumping at least consider as possible feature. Naming one can be a little bit tricky, but in doubt you can always just search for Co-op servers in Zandronum, and test those maps (since you only want the wad, there is no need to have players in the server, so pick whichever you want)

Most Doom maps are not designed around jumping most modern maps will will just assume you have it turned off or add invisible walls to prevent sequence breaking.
Total conversion mods usually have jump enabled a few good ones with jumping are
ArmageDoom, Action Doom, Golden Souls and Blade of Agony.

Not wanting to sound harsh but most of the Doom community (modding or not) are pretty much understanding that the game is meant to not have "full control" like jumping or crouching outside of advanced gameplay mods or maps.

Of course it depends of how "purist" the modder is but outside of the .txt file given with the .wad you have to assume it's following the "vanilla ruleset" of the game.

I've been keeping an eye out on quake modding, I gotta get back to brutalist jam 3.
Quake BJIII is really good despite that Quake has less modding than Doom...

Right, I understand that. I'm not trying to make a statement about how most maps are made, I know that they're mostly designed without jumping in mind, but I'm wondering if there are any map packs that are, even if unintentionally, harder to sequence break with it.
