Mother 3 is a heartbreaking experience and one of the most emotional games I've ever played. Earthbound is an incredibly influential game that has influenced many indie role-playing games and even though it shows its age, it's still a unique and fun experience.

I played the original version of the game and it's pretty cool either translated into English or Spanish although I haven't played this Romhack but it looks very good too.
