I noticed recently that the site has been getting alot of translations in other languages, i was wondering what languages other than English have the most active scenes.

Seeing all the Italian games is why I thought to ask, I think I've also seen a few French ones

I haven't looked too closely, but Spanish is probably the second most prolific language games are translated to, followed closely by Brazilian Portuguese and Italian.

Surely there must be a ton of Chinese translations we’re just not aware of, right?
Ah, that's a very valid point. Also sometimes even traditional to simplified Chinese. SRW games seem to be popular targets for Japanese -> Chinese translations now that I think about it.

There’s a plethora of Arabic translations I plan to upload here once I’m feeling less lazy nyo x.x

Is Arabic generally understood by people in every country where it is spoken? AFAIK, Portuguese in Brazil is different from Portuguese in Portugal, I wonder if it's the same with Arabic.

Usually depends on the version of Arabic. Fus’ha, known also as Modern Standard Arabic is understood by everyone and it’s what’s often used in translations. However, it is not spoken anywhere, it is considered stiff and unnatural. Some translators work around this by using a local dialect that’s widely understood like Levantine Arabic, Egyptian Arabic or Gulf Arabic.

Oh, yeah. For sure.

I have also seen quite a few German releases over the years, and I must admit that I wasn't ready for the sheer amount of others. At a time it seemed that half the updates on CDR were foreign translation patches, which is wonderful. At its core, gaming is a visual media, so no-one should have to miss out on it!

That's super cool, I didn't even know there was an Arabic scene let alone a big one

Oh I was aware of the Chrono Trigger one but I didn't know about any others, that's exciting even though I don't speak Arabic.

That’s truly beautiful. I didn’t know about this one! Rpg Arabic translations are actually inherently easier because most people Would just do Fus’ha since while it’s unnatural to speak, it’s not unnatural to read! It’s the default language for books, signs, menus, news, etc. ?

Playing Pokemon Ambar and then Moon in Spanish is a good way to learn the salience of dialects.
