N64 Most overrated N64 game ever

I hooked up an N64 and started playing all the old stuff again. I hate every bit of it a lot more than I used to.

Analogue 3D is going to come out this year and I might just keep it boxed up.

Banjo Kazooie will forever stand to me as one of the most overrated games ever.
I don't even think it's bad! It's a solid collectathon platformer. Cartoony and colorful. Charming characters. Fun, creative levels. I would happily play it start to finish, and I wouldn't complain.

That being said, that's it! It's not the messiah of gaming that people cracked it up to be. It's a hidden gem that achieved celebrity status through one means or another, and people couldn't shut up about it since. It's okay that it's just a good platformer! It's okay that it doesn't stand out TOO much in terms of gameplay! Some games can be good without having to be the ELITES OF THEIR GENRE(tm).
If something of the sort was released today, without the clouds of nostalgia and hype of JonTron and the sort, it would have been a 5 minute "everyone talks about it for a week and never mentions it ever again" kinda game.

I love Banjo Kazooie. But it just is not as good as people will let on. It is just an okay game.

That's some nice music, but I still don't see the hype
There is no real hype to Pilot Wings, it is a Game to chill and mess around, just finding what out what the Devs made and hid for fun.

Would say the later Rare Games are too hyped, Conquer has great Humor, but the others never got me and Banjo is a very boring Character.

Meanwhile, i wasn't a Fan of Mario 64 back then, but i played a couple of Times through it the last Years.
Gameplay is very good, same with the Music and Design.

Would say Star Fox is an overrated Series.
The second is the best, because of the Dog Fights and being more a Space Shooter than a 3D Shoot em up.

Since GoldenEye and Ocarina of Time are already taken, i can say:

Pokemon Stadium
Only fun you can get is with multiplayer or if you can figure how to bring your RB Pokes to the game, otherwise the base pokemon you are handed will limit you greatly, making single player a mess, 2 suffers the same issues, fortunately Colloseum on GCN fixes most of them

I respectfully disagree; I played Pokemon Yellow on it until about Cinnabar Island, soloing with my Pikachu except for the few times you need to use an HM to get by stuff.

"game recommendations"

damn, y'alls desire to have the same conversation over and over and over and over can't be contained, huh

Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, and the N64 Mario Parties

Super Mario 64 aged badly. The controls are kind of slippery and wall jump is very precise and unreliable. Also the internet in recent years made a ton of annoying false conspiracy theories over this game, thus starting the repetitious “Iceberg” meme.

Mario Kart 64 is not fun to play. Cheating A.I, slippery controls, and several bad courses to boot. This game actively wants you to lose.

Ocarina of Time didn’t age well. The Child Link portion of the game is very slow and it has jank aiming controls. Also it’s very easy.

Mario Party 1 is simply not fun. It’s torture. It’s a prime example of a “Fuck You!” game. This game has one of the most evil A.I computer opponents ever. Also, it’s murder on your hands. Mario Party 2 is an improvement but still bullshit. Mario Party 3 is way better than the previous two and is the only good N64 Mario Party game imo.

Diddy Kong Racing, but you could argue a solid chunk of the N64's catalogue. Most early 3d era games aged poorly. They have a legacy because there was nothing else quite like them at the time. Deservedly so! But I tend to almost exclusively favor 2d games whenever I revisit the late 90's. Devs didn't truly have 3d down until the GC/PS2/Xbox generation.

I guess Mario Kart 64. Pretty sure the only unlockable that game had was Extra mode. And MAN, the AI can be infurating.
But idk, I still kinda like the game anyways. But I'd rather play something like Diddy Kong Racing for my N64 racing game fix.
