Gamecube Most overrated GameCube game ever

For me I think it would be Twin Snakes, like it is a worse version overall. The only good thing about that game is that the guide I had on Nintendo Magazine helped me to finished the original version of the game,

Sonic Adventure 1+2, because of the graphical comparison to the Dreamcast versions. It gave me some Dark Souls Remastered ptsd.

From Sonic Adventure 1 I get it, the NGC version is awful. But what about Adventure 2? I think it is an across the board improvement over the original

Yeah, idk why people can't acknowledge SA2 is way better on GC. I get the complaints that a lot of the aesthetic details like the lighting and shading are worse on GC, but every other aspect is better, the obvious being the improvements to raising Chao's (although the unnecessary changes to the Hero and Dark gardens ARE actual downgrades from the DC version), but also the game just feels better to play on GC. Go back and play the DC version, you honestly forget how buggy that version is, especially the mech levels. On my last play-through of the DC version I had so many instances of just clipping through the floor as Tails. Never had that happen on GC.

I understand why people love Smash Bros Melee but seeing how characters are unbalance its disgusting. Also OP said "most overrated" and I feel like people are just saying games that they straight up don't like. Someone said Sonic Heroes on here and too be honest the Gamecube version is the best one. And to the person who said Luigi's Mansion like get the hell outta here.

It's kinda weird how the term overrated became.

I mean Melee is perhaps the best when it comes to competitive but then again competitive gaming has its own rules and Melee is probably the worst in term of single player content next to 64 and Smash 4 Wii U (I consider 3DS to be better thanks to Smash Run being better than Smash Tour, Event Mode isn't as good as Brawl and Melee's imo).

I'd also remind people that the balance in Brawl for competitive was worse thanks to tripping, the general slowness and floatiness making 90% of the cast not viable (and nerfing to oblivion fast characters like Fox, Falco and C.Falcon) as well as making one character so overpowered they got their own custom tier and when you play as them it's like playing Chess while the adversary is playing Checkers.

Meta Knight has a different Meta altogether. They even banned 4-5 of his techs to make him still legal but personally I'd go for Project M/Plus or just ban him altogether.

Sonic Heroes is a meh game because of doing it 4 times to get to the final story (SA1 and SA2 had at least the excuse to offer different levels for most of them) and while I appreciate the comeback of Special Stages in the franchise (last time was Knuckles Chaotix in '95 I think) and the ability to get all Chaos Emeralds in them to get to the final boss (instead of being in the main story and being conveniently reunited at the last moment) since Sonic R and the comeback of the Chaotix after almost a decade I still think that they should've focused on making the stories more like difficulty modes and Chaotix as a bonus mission mode while letting us get all Emeralds in one playthrough.

But calling it overrated is a bit rich when SA2 was the one in the Sonic series.

Luigi's Mansion was well received back then?

I would disagree about Melee having the worst single player content, Adventure Mode is amazing. I will 100% agree with you about Smash Run, was there Event Mode in Smash Bros WiiU?

Too be honest idk but to call it overrated, why? Because Mario isn't playable?

I'd probably say Smash, which I found so dull that I actually gave it away. It's great if people are into it or whatever, but I just did not get it.

Ok I said it was overrated too but jeez. Melee isn't dull.

Eh, Adventure mode was fun when it was a novelty but after almost 25 years with the fact they obviously rushed it (only the Mario and Zelda world have proper Adventure mode levels whereas the rest are normal stages) and after you unlock Luigi + defeat Giga Bowser I see little to no reasons to replay it instead of the more straightforward Classic Mode.

I could excuse Smash 64's 1-P Mode to be like Classic with the exact same levels in the same order (Link, Yoshi Team, Fox, Break the Target, Mario & Luigi, Pikachu, Giant DK, Board the Platform, Kirby Team, Samus, Metal Mario, Race to the Finish, Multiman mode with the Polygon Team and finally Master Hand) since it was the first game and it was the 90's.

I do like that Giant DK, Race to the Finish and Metal Mario were still a staple in Melee then these vanished (maybe giant Diddy Kong in Brawl SSE was a nod to it). I am glad RTTF came back in Smash 3DS and Ultimate (one being a game from Smash Run and the other much more linear sadly).

Smash 4 Wii U had an Event Mode (with a board that unlocks routes if you have unlocked a specific character and a flag goal to get bonuses) and Ultimate's World of Light is basically one.

I still didn't like Smash 4 Wii U's Classic mode because it felt convoluted but Smash Ultimate should've added a randomised one instead of one route per characters.

mario sunshine just could never get into it and i really like mario 64 just hate the fludd mechanic

Smash Melee. its a good game with friends but single player wise its kinda lackluster like most games of that kind. also theres not as many unique characters compared to Ultimate. Ultimate is a better video game celebration imo.
Could that be because they are 17 years apart from each other?

I'm playing Viewtiful Joe for the first time, and I'm shocked how much I don't like it. Clunky controls, finicky hitboxes, I don't get the appeal.

The Metroid Prime games. They suuuuuck as FPS games. I get that the OST and the atmosphere are great, but having to actually play the game in order to experience them blows
I like the games, but I hate the controls for the Gamecube. In fact, I actually prefer playing the Wii version of Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2.

Getting rid of trophies was an incredibly boneheaded move and killed the replayability for me.

I think the metroid prime games are overrated .

Great games with a cool new gameplay to it that aint far away of its classic approach and design but it wasnt as engaging than the 2D games overall for me .

Even the story was way too much about the federation , other bounty hunters , many different planets and dimensions in later games and so on .

I like the approach of Metroid 2 , Metroid fusion and Super Metroid . Huge underground complexes , big dangers that lingers in such a planet , ruins of an extinct alien race with its own dark twists , story told through level-design instead of cutscenes , biomes or areas with its own mysteries and so on .

You’re gonna get mad at me for this one, but….
Shadow the Hedgehog is not a good game. It’s very repetitious and boring. The story also makes me cringe.
I don't think that's an uncommon opinion. An edginess and mild cursing drinking game would probably kill someone, and I don't see people revering it nearly as much as the Sonic Adventure titles.

I agree with it .
But for me its not cringe anymore but laughable . Especially watching lythero videos of Shadow the hedgehog on YouTube is absolute comedy gold . That tryhard edge is more adorable than cringe .

The real unhinged cringe is still Beatdown : Fists of Vengeance . I either died laughing from it or cringe into another existence . That game is edgy multiplied into the most idiotic stuff i ever witnessed or absolute philosphical gangster-cringe that tries to be cool but flat-out fails hard with its pants stolen from a streetdog .

What you mean you hate the controls? The Gamecube controllers fits for Metroid Prime.
The game would play more fluidly if it had modern twin-stick controls (with the C-stick to control the camera).

I prefer the modern controls on the Remastered because I don't see myself playing a full First Person Adventure game with motion control.

Spirits are also collectibles like trophies but I'd argue that Smash's replay value is in the gameplay itself rather than those collectibles.

Like in Prime 1 then. You literally have complexes, ruins of the Chozos and story told through the environment and scans (which are optional).
