I would say anime itself is overrated which I only liked very few animes ever in existence. However doesn't make sense to think about subjective stuff in the context of "overrated" and "underrated" because you can't just decide that. If people like anime that's their preference and if I don't like anime itself then it's my preference.

So when I dislike what is popular I'm like "hmm it just didn't click with me" and when I like something not many people like I'm like "I'm kinda surprised I would like it" and that's all about it lol.

My Hero Academia I just never liked that anime
Naruto I actually love the Anime but I know its Overrated with many flaws and wasted potential.
One Piece it has some good Episodes but the Anime is faaaar to long and has to many fillers.

and Dragon Ball all of it it just never was my piece of cake the same with the Pokemon Series.

freaking loved Zabuza. I mean I don´t hate Naruto but I it overstayed it´s welcome my issue with some of these animes they become way to damn long.

But´s it´s like any TV show all mid shows get 500 seasons when the good shit I like get canceled after 1-2 seasons. Firefly ???

TBH Naruto was the real deal until Shippuden, and then afterwards it just became a tool to make more money and therefore it lacked the soul. Naturally everyone has their own reason to like Naruto, so mine was its sense of humor which was gone in Shippuden and all but if you cared about Naruto's sob story then naturally you would like the way how it's long. That's why some animes can continue that they became fundamental part of life of lots of people that they cannot live without. Like if One Piece had ended lots of people would feel like their life has no purpose!!!! lol

As for Firefly, so many potential just abdurdly ended without even showing its full power. Well it could continue like an anime for decades and I would enjoy it not gonna lie lol.

"Overrated" is maybe said too many times.

Dragon Ball may be overrated as being the most popular anime ever yet it's still a masterpiece that redefined shonens as a whole.

On the other hand I don't care that much about Naruto and One Piece aside from the early manga because of nostalgia of the 90's.

I would say anime itself is overrated.

An entire medium cannot be overrated or else you could say that movies, books and even music is overrated because of their popularity.

There's more than shonens (especially the nekketsu kind) in that art form.

Even if Saint Seiya, Yugioh and FMA '03 were infamous for their fillers I am already tired of the idea of Naruto having a ton. I prefer the pace of a manga.


Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu is good. Maybe even more mature and strategic than Gundam imo. I should read the books too. I miss animes based on novels and books too.

Yeah that's why when I find an interesting anime I wait for it to end for good before watching it so I can watch it in a row and possibly binge watch it to the end if I like it that much (for example Noragami). Thankfully animes doesn't interest me much so it doesn't happen all the time because usually I can barely watch for 10 minutes for "how bad they are" despite they seemed interesting to me so I waited for them to end lol.

And I even read mangas less but honestly first manga I cared to read was a new one (Eminence in Shadow that it also adapted to anime but it suck hard like it's completly different story lol). When I discovered it, it had like 10 chapters when now it has like 70 chapters or something so it killing me to wait for every month for new chapters so I decide to continue reading it after a year break but since I "forget" what was happening but I like the manga a lot before I start reading new issues I keep re-reading it from to beginning for years lol. I normally would wait for a manga to end too before reading it but I enjoy re-reading it too so it's all good.

Yep. And rarely some animes supposed to be dead for like 10 years start to continue which makes me "WTF" lol but so far when they pull that off and I see they are way worse than previous season(s) I didn't care to watch them but if I had care to watch them it would suck hard lol.

Without spoiling anyone:

Anime took a complete 180 degree difference compared to manga which IDK why. Considering how manga is like anime seem like "another universe story" or like a bad remake. Even genre of the manga and anime is different.

Manga is a full comedy nothing serious happens whatsoever. It was about a kid who really has powerful magic powers and he wanna control the world and stuff. The plot is simple but what's more about it is he initially helped a naive person who has "middle-schooler kid syndrome" so she believes our main guy is a superior person and whatever he does and says are correct. This guy just for lolz joked about some cult and comedy purposes it turned out true and it's just one comedy element in the manga. For example she and her BS "secret organization" seriously ask our guy where secret base of this "evil cult" may be and our main guy just for lolz throw a knife at random part of a map and makes fun of her saying "bruh they are definitely there because of some X BS excuse that sounds logical" and she buys it and always turns out he was right ayy lmao. And just to make fun of her and her cult he comes up with one liners to joke around and intentionally BS but they take it as "some secret message" which they misunderstand what he meant when in reality he just jokes around but this misunderstanding causes some good stuff for them lol. So in reality this naive person following our main guy like he is a "prophet" and just because he jokes around this naive person found a "secret organization".

Anime took complete turn as a remake and became a serious "isekai harem anime" that our main guy seriously believe all the BS the manga version joked about and he seem to be some cringe edgy teen who couldn't grow up. Naturally to interest some pervert teens they butchered the manga and directly jumped to an "high school romance" BS and sexual elements in the first episode when in manga such BS doesn't happen but what happens happens after like 50 chapter. So in short anime is like developed by people who have no idea how manga is but they just read the plot on paper, learned what characters there are and twisted for a BS anime.

TL;DR: Manga version makes fun of whatever is popular in animes, especially isekai and harem genre and all the generic BS in animes and stuff while manga is ironically seriously having isekai harem BS manga version makes fun of in a way clearly whoever in charge of the anime didn't get what the manga is about lol.

people have forgotten about haruhi which is GOOD, let it stay forgotten

go watch good ones, and by good ones, i mean the best one forever, which is Ginei

Considering how much anime there are and because of "peer and social pressure BS" society forces themselves to watch the most popular ones, mortal lifetime would be barely enough to even watch half of them!!! lol

So despite I may don't like anime stuff even I scream "geronimo" and dive deep into this BS abyss to look for some good ones. For example recently I found these and therefore they are in my watch list:

i would highly suggest you use anidb instead for anime specifically
it's THE anime database
and unlike MAL *gags* the scores are more believable and down-to-earth, almost all the time
some of the cases where i do not believe the scores are being objective are:

Sousou no Frieren (i guess i could add that this shit is WAY too overrated, like it had some good moments i'll admit, but cmon the anime isn't even fucking complete dawg it does NOT deserve #1 spot )

Kusuriya (holy fucking shit don't get me started on this mid-tier assery, people just love their catgirl waifu and pairing her with the oh-so-handsome dude)

FMA 2009 (i actually recently rewatched it, and i am so fucking disappointed at how very just alright it was cos before rewatching it, i rewatched the original 2003 one and it was so regretful that the 2003 version didn't end up finishing the manga all the way because 2003 is superior to 2009)

but just you watch
in time, Frieren and Kusuriya will end up being forgotten like Haruhi one day cos new weebs and basic weebs are so fickle they'll literally jump on anything new

Honestly never ever cared about reviews and score so no problemo. As for IMDb at least they have screenshots + trailers + basic info you would need to learn about media so it's ok.

One of my buddies back then once shared its manga link and said "this manga is like fixed version of the anime" and he was right. Shinji wasn't a pussy, there was actually a story and ending!!! lol. But I don't know which "manga" it may be or just simply manga adaptation or something.

While the anime is dislikeable I at least appreciate the HUD design of stuff in the anime:

I also like the melancholic "a danger may appear any time soon" vibe which I also like a video game called XCOM: Enemy Unknown because of this. The theme of the anime is so great and all but the shit was ruined because of emo BS and pervert teen attraction BS.
