Most memorable RPGs in your experience.

Yeah I love the fact that they has some huge balls to make something THAT different while still keeping some similarities (traveling through timelines instead of time, visible ennemies and no need to level up...), but I understand why Chrono Trigger fans can be conflicted about that game.

Yeah, it's not as good, and I don't like some of the phonetic accents they programmed into the English localization, but it's a lot like Xenogears, but actually finished.

steal the spotlight

Dude I'm sorry but you seem to have an obsession with that.

It's a forum, it's made to chill and exchange with people who share similar interests, it's not a tool to get attention or feel important.

Can you read well? What do I have to do with it? I haven't posted threads in a while! I certainly don't speak for myself, but for other users and in defense of the originality of the topics covered, and against continuous repetitions. 🤦🏼‍♂️
In short, do as you want: I was saying it for the sake of order, logic and coherence. If you like reading the same things over and over, who am I to stop you! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can you read well?

Yes, I can read well, and between the lines actually.

Aren't you the one who made passive agressive comments on your visual novels thread because members would recommend games thats YOU wouldn't consider visual novels, or because they would write something too long ?
Yup I have a good memory for egotistical behaviors.

You're definitevely the kind of guy who wants things to be done his way, I can read that.

It's a forum, with a bunch of different people, just like real life, and you may not like everything in there or what members will do or say, that's no reason to complain if it's not something problematic.

If you hadn't understood, mine was an attack on a certain management and functioning system of the site, and against no one in particular, while now I have received a personal attack in return!
So I'm not allowed to criticize with constructive intent? Was I harsh? I don't think I used any swear words or insults, while yours is a personal attack.
The one about the post being too long was a joke, and regarding the VN I just said that it didn't fit into the category.
I don't understand this personal attack, when I was trying to improve the logic/coherence of the site as a system.
Who are you to call me egoist? What do you know about me? I don't allow myself to judge anyone: I respect everyone and I hope to be respected.

I humbly apologize to everyone (and mainly to OP) for my somewhat harsh tone, for going off topic, and for rambling over a nonsense. If I will be punished for this, however, I wrote everything in good faith. 😑

I fear that my bad mood and susceptibility depends on melancholy and stress of not being able to find another woman in my life. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Behold my post-modernist rpg triptych!

I've probably thought about Space Funeral at least once a week since I first played it back in 2019. Ephemeral, funny, and dripping with bile.

This is a tough one?? I think the emphasis is on 'ADVENTURE' in Moon: Remix RPG Adventure - but it's something else to see the ex-Squaresoft boys picking themselves and their past employer apart. And in such a heartwarming way!

Nojima's magnum opus. You can see him beginning to explore some of these ideas in VIII but here it's just so?? clean; mature; considered; focused. Maybe not his most complex work - but his most realized.

Panzer Dragoon Saga - Just an incredible piece of work.
Brave Fencer Musashi as an Action RPG, mostly because it was an influence on me.
Stella Glow as a Strategy RPG. Ogre Battle 64 is right there with it.

Major Shin Megami Tensei fan over here. They're my favorite RPGs. Out of that lineup, I'd recommend:

Persona 2 Innocent Sin - straight tear jerker, has a very solid story and world building within it. Love the gameplay and dungeon exploration

Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 - insane how good this story is, though very long as it is spread across 2 full games. takes a different spin on the SMT formula and doesn't focus on collecting/fusing demons for improving yourself in battle. Most people complain about the encounter rate

Devil Survivor Overclocked - tactical RPG spin, first SMT game I ever played. Still holds up incredibly well and is amongst the toughest games in the entire series

I also never see anybody talk about Monster Rancher. Monster Rancher 3 was one of the most important RPG experiences I had as a child

Phantasy Star on the Master System... took me 9 months to complete it back in the day. There were no cheat codes, no GameGenie, no maps, no hint books, or anything. STILL my favorite RPG and the G.O.A.T.

Y's: Books I & II on the TurboDuo... it was great and fun to play. The Master System version was fun too, but without the voices and anime cinemas.

Miracle Warriors on the Master System... even harder than Phantasy Star, but still loved it.

Lunar & Lunar 2 on the SEGA CD... near perfection. 'Nuff said.

When it comes to most memorable there's a few that pop into my head:

MAIN ONE being Kingdom Hearts.

The series as a whole has been my go to games for YEARS!
I've beaten all of them numerous times, and honestly they never get old to me no matter how many times I beat any of the games. Also one of the main games to get me into RPGs to begin with.

Tales of the Abyss.

A huge one for me cause this game is the reason I'm into the Tales series as a whole. It's actually kinda funny thinking back on it now. My buddy was OBSSESSED with Tales of Legendia, and I used to watch him play that. Then I found Abyss at walmart for 20 bucks. I think its jumped up in price since then just wild that a random game I picked up on a whim basically started my obsession with the series as a whole.

I might get shit on for this one but
Persona 5.

First Persona I have ever played (took me damn near 3 years to finally beat it)

I knew about the Persona games over the years but I never actually played them but for some reason 5 just drew me in. Recently was playing Reload seeing as it's on gamepass, started playing Persona 4 Golden. Just because of this one game, I even started playing the other Shin Megami Tensai games in general. Just overall another huge influence on my gaming taste.

Overall as you can tell JRPGS are a personal favorite of mine and this list can go on forever with what games I find memorable. Anywhere from Dragon Quest VIII, to Pokemon, to Lost Odyssey (The real FF13, don't @ me).

Talking about actual RPGs, you got the obvious ones like Skyrim and hell just elder scrolls in general, but a pretty underrated one that I find pretty memorable is Kingdoms of Amular.

I personally feel there are many RPGs that will be memorable for many people cause of the sheer scope of games in the genre.

Yeah i also have a memorable experience with Persona, Persona 4 to be exact. That game came in the right time for me when i was struggling for my life,

I also really liked SMT4. Really an experience i wish i can forget soo i can tasted like the first time again. It was awesome.

I was super hype when they did the remaster of nocturne cause that was the first SMT I played on PS2. Feels hella different to be honest though.

I played the sega ages version on switch, I can't imagine the patience to play without the map the speed up option and a guide.

Maybe back then I would have enjoyed making my own map ?

I'm still impressed thinking about people finishing the game back then withou the Qol add ons (i can't call it improvements as I'm sure players who enjoyed the game back then most certainly think it's better without it, but I don't have the patience or that much time to play today 😅 )
