Most Iconic Character that is not the Protagonist

Behold, the true mascot of Street Fighter.

First, I love her outfit, it's so unique and expressive. Ryu's just a guy with a Kimono.

She's a very aggressive character in SF2 and I love her kicks.

She's tough and calls herself the strongest woman in the world, but also can't help herself and get all kawaii after winning. Also fully embraces the lifestyle of being single at the end.

Also I love this line from her backstory, it's a bittersweet take on the villain-hero relationship, rather than being a two-sided rivalry:

Reminds me of you took everything from me The Villain:I don't even know who you are

I went in to Sakura Wars V expecting an SRPG with heavy dating sim elements. Instead, Michael Sunnyside's antics stole the entire show.

You know when you think about it Sol Badguy is a villain who gained protagonist status anyway

Morrigan too, the franchise has never had a specific protagonist but until 3 and its many ports, Morrigan is a side character.

There’s also Noel and/or Hazama who probably rival Ragna in popularity

And of course there’s Bridget in general. I don’t think there’s ever been a side character so popular she moves merchandise more than the actual protagonists. Though you could argue this was due to Strive’s immense surprise success as a whole leading to unpopular characters to get traction.

Wait a minute, I’m not even finished
10 charged shots when I’m rolling to the intro, I’m a- shot by gunfire

think Rose from Legend of Dragoon sticks in peoples' minds more than Dart. She saves the mc immediately and tends to be a pretty strong voice in the party, has a cool design, and has combos that are easy to use and powerful, so it feels natural to let her stay in the battle party.

also fuck webps why is this the first normal jpg I can find.

I shall remember Elvis until the day i die, that man WAS a great friend!

Vile will live in my head as THE boss that made me learn patterns, and also i might add has a simple, yet GREAT design.

Liu Kang.
I always saw Mortal Kombat as this heroless story since as a kid, and only started seeing Liu Kang as some sort of the hero of the story in MK9 until he gets burned

I really liked Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, then the sequel came and started forcing Liu Kang's protagonism in. It doesn't fit the tone of the series imo. Makes sense that the devs want to kill him.

The Shopkeeper from The Messenger. The game actually plays around with the idea of "protagonist" in fun ways.

Mike from Until Dawn - People view Sam as the main character, but Mike gets the best action sequence of the game and even figures out what to do in the game's final scene.

Luigi - The "player 2" of the franchise. He really outshines Mario a lot in Mario and Luigi Brothership, constantly finding solutions to everything and often figuring out how to take down the bosses.

I think Zero was already mentioned, he embodies this idea as he was originally meant to be the hero of the Mega Man X series

Fox McCloud in Starlink Battle for Atlas, whose announcement of being in the game suddenly made gamers around the world care about the game for the first time

I also like Luigi more than Mario don't get me wrong I don't dislike Mario in the slightest its just that I prefer Luigi as I find him more likable and relatable :)

i like luigi because he always get buliied by otger characters(even toad forget his name!) But he still make the best actions. He stay in shadows for a while but in my opinion he always been better than mario for me.

Solair is best boy ;)
and yes Luigi is the unlikely Hero yet he does what is right when the Time comes he is the most Realistic of the Brothers I would say very scared and often made fun off yet always there to save his Brother despite is easily scared nature.
