The SNES library is huge, filled with unique concepts and whatnot, but sadly a lot of turn-based RPGs feel too tedious or lack difficulty or simply don't do anything really interesting with their combat. In the sea of SNES turn-based RPGs, including all these fan-translated and less known ones, which ones do you think are the most fun?

Super Mario RPG was the only one I owned as a kid and it still holds up today, especially with some of the ROM hacks for it

I feel that it goes without saying but you gotta try the G.O.A.T. if you havent already

this site is also helpful if you are looking for rpgs to play, filter by turn-based, snes & jp sfc and you should get a preety good list of games

I LOVE the 7th Saga...when it's not jacked up in difficulty like they did in the USA. Many argue Elnard is pretty unremarkable, but the amount of options at the start with differences, a battle system that really focuses on a strategy (which spell dispels which monsters the quickest to save MP), the music, the graphics, how encounters work and probably the coolest thing about it and it's sequel, the first person view and animations in battle. I can't name any other RPG where instead of a box or a portrait, you see your character on the battlefield IN ACTION right in front of you in a turn based RPG. It's rad as fuck.

Square Enix has all but forgotten about these games but give them a go, along with their weird spinoff Zelda like game, Brain Lord

Favorite Rpg...Earthbound. It is definitely #3 in the Must Play SNES rpg list....and if you got the joke. CONGRATS!!!!

Dark Half is an interesting game where you take turns playing as the hero and the villain of the story. The villain's side is much more interesting (both story and gameplay-wise), while the hero's campaign is kind of generic (maybe on purpose).
