Mortal Kombat what’s worth playing?

If you want to start with the MK Saga I recommend the Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004) and as a bonus Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (2005).

Deception is easily best 3d MK and worth playing
MK 11 and 12 are pure trash and not worth playing

Deception was great !
The Ps2/OG Xbox MKs were cool in their own approach . Not perfect but it tried something more of an level up with its different Styles-system .

On the newer ones i think only MK9 was the best . MK10 came to me as washed up and out of steam already . I would even assume that MK had never a clear and good future ahead while some other midway franchises were the next spiritual succesor to MK .

Mace : The dark age was for me the true succesor to MK and had huge potential on its own . Especially when Soul Calibur was its only worthy contender for a 3D fighting game with weapons on its belt .
Sad how it was ignored while looking so badass and edgy at the same time .

Our local large arcade mall in late 90s had both mk4 and mace for a while.

Most people played mace, which also looked better than mk4, while mk4 lay abandoned. Eventually the mk4 cab was removed and mace stayed. Mk4 was trash

I like the Mortal Kombat setting and lore, but only the original timeline. MK ended with Armageddon as far as I'm concerned.
