That was maybe the first game for N64 when it WAS CLEAR... not EVERY game for that "SM64 console" would be awesome. To be clear, it was also released for PSX, but the N64, until then, had that mystified idea of "you could not be a bad game if you are a N64 game"... until this MK Mythology appeared and finally destroyed this idea forever XD.
(to be fair, N64 first bunch of games were full of amazing games: SM64, PilotWIngs64, Wave Race 64, Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire, Turok, Blast Corps, GoldenEye...)
I mean, some would say Cruis'n USA was a crap for N64 way before the MK Myth release... but in fact Cruis'n USA is a good arcade game.
The problem with that game, which was treated as "the first BAD n64 game" by some, was... "someone", maybe in Nintendo, thought it would be the "Daytona USA" or "Ridge Racer" for N64.
And Midway never pretended to do that: The Arcade version showed what it was, 2 years before: just a funny game.
In fact, it is fun to play even today, and that can't be said about MAAAAANY other games of that era, with giant rates.
But I suppose people wanted an excellent car racing game for N64 from the start, and of course Cruis'n USA wasn't exactly that, but was the first "car game", so...
MK Mythologies, instead, was just... an interesting idea (exploiting the MK lore and characters to make other types of action games), but just not well executed. This game (which had to be the first of a series, LOL) was panned in the media, because it has lots of gameplay problems. And, even being not an exclusive game, the BAD reviews for the N64 version had a real impact on (until then) the N64's "holy" fame.
Lest we forget this gem of a line "I am a dead man, but somehow you have retained your mortality, which would mean you are vulnerable to death." from the PS1 version.
Hard as hell game, almost impossible, but you can apply this
To get infinite lives in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, enter GTTBHR as a password. Other cheats include TDFCLT for infinite health, NXCVSZ for unlimited urns of vitality, and ZCHRRY to start at the Fortress level.

Thank you very much for your contribution about the cheats, although it's pretty clear that even with those cheats, the game is still difficult anyway.

A notoriously bad game no matter what version you play.
What always stuck with me is that cutscene from the PS1 version where Scorpion (I think) said something like "I am immortal, which means am vulnerable to DEATH!"
I think I played it once and I could only get as far as the second stage of the game, which is platforming and good precision is required to calculate jumps well and for some reason Up is to jump than on any other button that makes it uncomfortable for platforming sections. Playably it also feels different from the multiple games we're used to playing because it's like a kind of beat 'em up but with RPG elements but the playable execution is not as expected because it is uncomfortable, especially when changing objectives and jumping but hey, graphically it's not bad for an MK game that combines 2D and 3D so it's like 2.5D and the music is kind of boring and the sound effects are okay and the learning curve is high especially in the sections where you have to avoid the deadly traps and also the platforming jumping ones and for some reason the N64 version only has images and text in the Cutscenes unlike the PS1 version but, well.
