PC Modern Gaming

Seeing that Robomodo went out of business because of it! I hope is easier to never forget... but the gaming industry is prime example of not learning at all ::cirnoshrug
Yes, and worse, recalcitrating on mistakes. Zero lessons learned, mistakes on the rise.

I prefer to be more positive. Maybe the big hits aren't there at the moment, but good AAA games do still come out from time to time and there's also the indie scene. And even if I have to wait a bit, my backlog of both modern and retro games is absolutely huge! Teenage me could only dream of this kind of access to games! And I can integrate my love of gaming into writing and streaming to make it even more fun! I'm not saying everything about the state of gaming right now is great, but all things considered we have it pretty damn good right now.

Oh, definitely. I mean, Monster Hunter became AAA pretty much, and I enjoy Wilds, but I'm not blind to how terribly optimized it is. Indies tend to be exempt from the dredge that surrounds this segment of the industry because everyone collectively agrees the bar is lower, which is a good thing.

That's part of the problem: AAA bar is too high, and both companies and consumers are to blame.

As for being positive about this, sorry, taking page from Inside Out, my emotion console is mostly cynicism at this point.

I dont enjoy being negative, just someting i need to say. And i have to agree that Indie scene is probably the best right now and Schedule I is testament to that since that game is more addictive than fentanyl

Too many high powered old games to care about modern AAA slop. Even Just the PS2 library alone will keep keep me busy for a lifetime and then some. Spending any energy on things you know you won't enjoy is a waste, life's too short for that. Needless to say I gave up on modern gaming a long time ago.

This is the perfect scenario for the Second Video Game Crash.

The problem is that, unlike the 1980s, there is a lot of material that was not only released but also preserved in official and alternative forms.

So the ones who would suffer the most in this crisis would be the companies, not the consumers.

All the more reason why it should happen, at least to some degree.

You know, soon enough they'll probably need to push pointless stuff like that to stay ahead.
"GTA VI: The wettest streets you've ever seen! (Requires a GTX5090)."
I'm pretty sure they already did that with Red Dead Redemption. I seem to recall one of their marketing strategies was talking about how realistic the hair on the horses tails was.

I’m confused why’d this guy get sent to the shadow realm? I missed nothing because no argument even occurred on here!

It doesn't have to do with this thread directly.

Ah fair nuff.

Why’d you ban my alt account Guts? /j

Or how about downloading 100GB before you could even play the game, let alone downloading patches that can go just as much
100GB of UNCOMPRESSED FILES because who cares, the players are paying for it.

Man, that's unbelievable.
There were a lot of articles like this:
Bass said that the focus on animation was the horses’ barrel and hindquarters, because of the game’s third-person camera. Additionally, in order to make the horses as realistic-looking as possible, the team used the same technology usually meant for faces on specific areas of the horse’s muscles, such as the muzzle, hindquarters, shoulders and ribcage

I get the others but what exactly is the problem with this?
The problem with that is if you make a game that you think will appeal to everyone it will appeal to no one. I miss when games were made for niche markets by small teams. I have nothing against any group of people I'm just saying a game that will be bought by mostly young dudes should have attractive female characters and slightly edgy dialogue. A game made for young girls should have whatever they want in a game idk. There used to be games made for goth type people like bloodlines and games made for mostly regular jock type people like halo or black ops 1 and 2. Age of Empires or Total War for history nerds etc. Most of the decline in games these days is because a small team of people all on the same page aren't making games as much as back in the 90s and 2000s instead its teams of thousands that could not be on the same page if they tried and you have executive types that know nothing of creating art in charge of creating art.

That makes sense, yeah I kinda agree. Risking everything by making something for everyone creates a messy and unfocused product that no one really likes. Always know your niche.

Modern Gaming... still has cool shit to offer. Most people are just used to internet discourse. Me? I'm gonna be enjoying my time playing Ninja Gaiden, Doom, and Gears. I get it though, shit isn't the same anymore, but it never will be. Gotta take the bad with the good.

Funny how back on the 7th generation the complaint was "PS2 graphics."
Times change, facts hardly do.
I'll take the ps2 graphics over the hell escape we have now any day.

Hay i agree, but far and few between. i am eyeing up the new Onimusha for example as Hideki Kamiya is said to have rejoined and started up clover again for it. (unless this is a clever scam by capcom >_>)

For me indie studios seem to deserve most of the respect in this day and age.
