I was thinking here, ever since I sold my modded Wii U I've been planning on buying a Steam Deck to emulate the Wii games I wanted to play, but something struck me... How will I emulate the motion controls part? While most of the games I want to play are minimal on the motion part, they still do exist, and some do require more complex motions to do an action in game, like swinging the controler sideways to use your chainsaw in Mad World, or doing those weird key insertions in Metroid Prime 3 where you have to pull the Nunchuck, not the controler THE NUNCHUCK, twist it and put it back into place... How the fuck do you pull it off in a Steam Deck?

I don't mind not having an "authentic experience" since I used to emulate DS games before I got the nuts to mod my 3DS (I was afraid of bricking it) so that never really bothered me, but there are some that do, which now I ask the Forums™ what they think about it. Is it a deal breaker? Or just another minor inconvinience?

Its not extremely difficult to mod a wii ( and they are pretty readily available) but is the transportability of the steam deck a key factor in the decision because if so you may just have to deal with it or finds hacked or modded rom versions, but I don't know how easily you can find those for every game you'd want to play . if it isnt i would say that maybe getting another wii would be the better decision unless you also want to play newer games on the steam deck.

Yeah it's like I said, I sold my Wii U because I didn't really have any other reason to have it anymore, it was pretty wasted from age and due to poor engenieering (I always take good care of my consoles and the Wii U was falling apart) so I sold it modded to the local game store I frequent to get some cash back.
It just stood there gathering dust, while I did play on it for a while I saw it more as a burden than anything else, the Steam Deck looked way more enticing and overall better.

It's never the same thing, and this is coming from a person that mostly played on pc his whole life and played most exclusives on emulator. It can be perfectly fine if you are not really that big of a fan of the game or if you are not that invested, but if you get attached to it and want to play more and more you sooner or later will find the limitations of emulation and even if they are minor you will forever get that itch behind the ear that something is missing, something could be better and that something is not working right as it should.
It's been a decade since i actually owned a console, but if i could i would play all games on their respective devices, i would for sure

Sounds like projecting to me. I replay FC Rockman games regularly, and I'm perfectly content with emulation.

Since I hated the Wii's gimmick of motion controls I only played Wii games that I could use the Classic controller. I haven't tried bluetoothing the Wii remote to the Steamdeck yet but there might be some on youtube.

As for my own experiences I guess I haven't had that problem since I haven't had time to really play roms of games I haven't owned maybe it's the yo-ho life that's made me so blasé to the idea of it not being authentic? I owned the DS and still do but the 3DS was out of my reach and Nintendo titles are notorious for being hardware locked so I looked for a way around it, it might be an excuse to some but it was only non debt option for a handful of titles that I may or may not get to even play.

Projecting is when you make implications about someone that are not real and are instead a reflection of your own behavior and insecurities.
I was actually saying what i experienced myself playing other games, i never played FC Rockman but thanks for letting me know that you are satisfied.
My experience with Zelda games for N64 for example is different, i don't think PC emulation really addressed the things that i don't like still, outside maybe the decomp port.

I get that, it technically is never the "same thing" since an emulation is just that, running a look alike code in a hardware that is not the same as the original, so the game sometimes comes out funky looking or the clock speed is faster than the original so the game looks like it's on speed, and so on and so fourth. Sure you can "down grade" your computer to make the game run better (ironically) but your computer doesn't have the 1:1 aspect of the og hardware, so you can say that you're not really playing the original game at this point, but that's more of a semantics argument.

The way you wrote your post, it sounded like you were making a general statement, as opposed to a personal one.

I'm sorry if I offended you.

Nah man you're good. You actually made me realize how i know jackshit about Mega Man in general, now i want to play them since also everyone in this website loves this series lmao

Being on a handheld does make playing the GBA/GB/GBC titles almost one to one with better lighting. I sold my GBA with that confidence in mind. Doesn't "convert" well on split screens, depends on how the game used the top/down screens but the emulator is nice in how you can adjust per game.
