Hello all, I'm seeking some advice.

Just before Christmas I soft modded my WII using the DNS trick to download and install the homebrew channel.

After which I downloaded Hackmii, Priiloader and bootmii using the following guide:
FULL Guide to Homebrew The Wii & Play Downloaded Games 2025 +Nand backup, Open Shop Channel & more!

Everything went smoothly, Until I edited the system menu (I removed some channels such as the the Photo channel) which I found out too late was absolutely something you're not supposed to do.

This has resulted in a DSI/ISI errors.dx2CISO crashes when ever I try to alter/re-apply CIOS settings. USBLoaderGX refuses to do anything past "loading resources" screen where it hangs.
The a2x custom ISO installer likewise hangs and produces .dx2CISO errors.
I've re-formatted my FAT32 SD card to 16kilobytes to help with loading data but its not helped, in fact I then removed and re-installed everything through hackmii 1.2 & reset priiloader at boot but the errors still persist even without the SD Card installed. The problem is the console itself

The good news is the Wii will still play officially released games, but anything involving homebrew channel results in the same DSI/ISI errors that crash the console and force me to do a restart.

I did back up the NAND but I have been hesitant to load it as at this point I have no idea what I'm doing 😅
And unless I can back up the save files already on the console I'm likewise hesitant to do a factory reset as the data is 15+ years old and I have a feeling a factory reset won't actually affect the modified cISO entries

I won't be able to post any pictures of the error codes until Friday as I work away from home in the week, but I just wanted to put out feelers for any advice or go to troubleshooting I'm unaware off.

Reinstall de original NAND and start again.
I keep the unwanted channels in the last page of the System Menu, so I dont see it.
Homebrew and Media on the first page.
WADS in the second page (and SD)
Unwanted (undeletable) channels on the last page.
I never see them, I never leave the two first pages.

Do not despair, the Wii is very noble when it comes to modding.
Cheers!
I love mine, btw, 2TB HDD with retro Anime and TV from the 90s in glorious 480p, using Component Cable.

Pretty much what @popckorn Said. i just saw this, and was coming in to tell you more or less the same thing. <Wii's can be finiky about modding sometimes>

also word of warning, watch about installing to many of the Wiiware games, they will eat up your space. and can softbrick the system

This, install WiiWare games to the Wii and then move them to the SD storage.
Do it 4 by 4, if you do batches larger than 5 or 6 sometimes you will eat all the space in the Wii, which can be bad. Better to have most WiiWare games installed and moved to the SD and only a couple of important ones installed on the System for faster launc.

My apologies for being away for so long, I was short noticed deployed for a month.
Finally got back last week, tried a few things but-

It's dead Jim

Well not dead, it boots legal games with no issues.
But the Wii has no capability to restore the NAND, whilst it still has priiloader installed ANY attempts to re-install the homebrew channel or other applications causes an DSI error.

Thus I can't use bootmii to restore the NAND.
So I'm acquiring a new Wii tomorrow and starting for scratch.

Thank you all for your suggestions with alleviating the problem.

It is a pleasure modding a Wii, you lost nothing.

Enjoy the process!
I am on my 4th Wii being modded for my nephew this year's Christmas later on.

If you ever install WiiRadio I can send you the file with about 200 stations from all around the world, so you don't have to go and gather them all one by one. It is all genres, includes psytrance and university radio. Includes some random stations picked using:

--Update--

So the second Wii has been successfully modded using letterbomb HOWEVER it too have me a DNI error when installing the Homebrew Channel.
... Until I unplugged the nunchuck from the Wiimote.

IT WAS THE NUNCHUCK

So I potentially bricked my previous Wii (By uninstalling and resetting everything after the initial error to the point only priiloader existed) because of the nunchuck.
I hate Nintendo. I knew about removing all external devices but WHY WOULD A CONTROLLER EVER BE CONSIDERED A EXTERNAL DEVICE?

I hate Nintendo. Hate. Hate. Hate. But at least my girlfriend can finally play frolf.

I should have just got a Gamecube and an optical drive replacement/Expansion port SD Card reader from Aliexpress
