I would rather play through 6 and 7 again before replaying 8 though. It does have a kind of tired feeling to it that is hard to describe. I need to give the merge mod a try at some point. I honestly feel like Might and Magic 9 kind of falls into the same boat. Despite what people say, there is enjoyment to be had in that game. It's very rough, but it's still Might and Magic. Some accounts state that it was a pre-alpha release essentially. I have played through 9 more times than most, and I would say I have more fun with it than 8. The dungeon design in particular tends to be pretty decent, and I think the dungeons benefited the most from the more advanced engine. Some of the later game ones like the lich lab and valley of the dead are some of my favorite Might and Magic dungeons. The overworld and towns absolutely suck though. The class system is a bit too simplified, and druid promotion questline is just plain broken. I think with some more time in the oven and some reworking, it could have been a genuinely good game.
