We've gotten past the halfway point of the year about a week and a half ago. (time sure does fly by fast huh?) Because of this this, i'd like to pose a question. What has been your "Game Of The Year" so far? Im expecting to see alot of "Expedition 33s" in the comments, maybe some "Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's" sprinkled here and there. "Death Stranding 2" released not too long ago and it seems people are just finishing up that game and sharing all their thoughts about it.

PERSONALLY, i havent played many games from this year. Ive beaten "DOOM: The Dark Ages", but thats about it so far, im about an hour into "Expedition 33" right now, "Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3+4" just dropped a few days ago, ive been playing a bit of that. There's also some games this year that i havent gotten around to buying yet but really enjoyed the demos of. One of them being "Ruffy and the Riverside". Absolutely gorgeous 2D platformer in an art style similar to something youd see in "Paper Mario" game.

As for now, mine would be DOOM by default, but let me know what you all are playing and enjoying this year!

I haven't played anything from this year, mostly because I gave up on modern gaming, but if I were to guess, I'd go with Expedition 33

I have some of my own.... I guess you could say "disillusions" with modern gaming as a whole as well, but im curious to which why you feel this way.

Alot of my issues come down to the gaming space feeling really homogenized now without some of the uniqueness that was extremely prevalent in the 6th Gen and SOME of the 7th.

Also with the price of game development rising, i feel developers are less inclined to make really weird/somewhat experimental & quirky games as they used to. They gotta feed their families and one wrong move can just crumble a studio now, so i think many of the games now play it really safe for stability reasons.

i havent played them yet but the coolest looking ones to me are the new Doom and The First Berzerker Kazahn

I don't think a video game released since 2016 even deserves a GOTY title because they are not a game to start with. They may be "Less Rubbish of the Year" (LROTY) though lol.

Honestly? It’s a toss up between Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 & AI Limit. Both of them captivated me utterly to completion. BUT if I’m including older games? Then that’s a different ballpark entirely (I don’t always play new games).

For me, it's Clair Obscur far out in front, with Blue Prince in distant second

Wasn't this game deemed as a disappointment compared to Eternal?

And defaulting for Doom may sound a bit of favouritism if the GotY awards gave it one.

Expedition 33 is fine but I wouldn't be a chauvinist just because it's made by French devs.

Doom 2016, Eternal, Zelda BotW among many good indie ones are existing.

They are nothing to me. Out of the context of if a game is "good", they are not better games than older games so their existence is pointless to me.

I rather play Zero Tolerance on my Sega Genesis instead of Doom 2016 and I rather play Super Mario instead of Eternal lol.

As for Zelda BOTW, it's like 3D version of Terraria with 1% of its context that played a lot mostly because of Linkle mod and whatnot. I would rather play Crazy Bus because at least it doesn't force you to do anything with forced tutorial BS lol, otherwise same empty games lol.

Imagine Link as the bus and boom Zelda BOTW is not so different!!1 You just go!!!!! Same genre as Death Stranding is but at least it has BS cutscenes to watch to satisfy your Netflix hunger lol. If you wanna go that much from now on do my grocery shopping for me, and if you want cutscene let me tell you about my army days for hours!!! lol

Liking these games are even insult to NES games lol.
