Hello everyone,

Did anyone purchase MGS1 (PS1, NTSC US) back in the day, within the first two weeks of its release, from a small retailer?

If so, do they remember whether the seal was a Y-Fold or a V-Overlap?

Thanks in advance.

Isn't y-fold universally how PS1 games shipped? Even when we were ordering greatest hits in the mid-2000s, they came that way.

I've seen graded MGS1 games where different seal types (V-Overlap or RTB) were mentioned, sometimes with the notation 'First-party'.

As a fun fact, Konami initially distributed Metal Gear Solid 1 PAL to small retailers (at least for the French version) with a seal featuring a gold stripe, then a few weeks later with the official PlayStation stripe.

So I'm wondering whether, for the NTSC US version, the Y-Fold is truly the very first seal.

This is interesting. Is there a way to tell first release, like a serial number on the sticker or something?

SLUS & serial number are the same, nevermind the seal/seam

I have a black label PAL copy of MGS1 somewhere. Unfortunately I can't remember how it was wrapped when I first received it as a gift. Would be keen to learn more about this if anyone can verify for you.
